Better late then never so here goes . remove mic to expose the pins then short out the pins while watching the meter to see if the needle pins . If it does pin then the mic is the problem .

One of the wires in the mic plug is probably broken off. Probably the wire on pin 3. Pin 3 should be transmit. Could also be the wire(s) on pin 1 depending on what mic you have.

SOURCE: Galaxy dx99v cb radio

I see no one has responded to your question. The reason may be that the information is a bit vague. The are a lot of reasons a radio won't receive. In the Galaxy 99, the mic doesn't have to be connected to receive a signal so that illimates the mic possibilities. I have found that in some of the Galaxys I have worked on, that the if section ( thats the section near the pll chip, has cold solder joints ( broken solder connections to the pc board ). You may want to look real close at the pc side of the board with a magnifing glass and see if you can find any electronic components ( resistors, transistors. etc ) loose. Good Luck

SOURCE: my galaxy 959 cb radio wil not put out any transmit

Based on your post of no transmit, a couple of possibilities:
1. defective microphone or cord or PTT switch (the red TX light does not come on when pressed);
2. TX light comes on but no output, defective finals and/or drivers. These are the transistors screwed to the chassis of the radio very near the antenna terminal;
3. defective regulator IC that provides the TX B+;
5. insufficient amperage from you power supply;
6. too high SWR.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: cb radio

Most of the time this indicates a bad swr. You may have a poor ground or a bad cable. See more about swr here:

You may need to lengthen or shorten the antenna but you should have a swr meter to do this in the frequency you are testing. At radio shack they should have one for cb.

Hope this helped

You should refrain from transmitting until you get the swr down to about 1.2:1 or close.

SOURCE: uniden 520xl makes humming noise when mike is keyed

if you have a power mic , you might have it turned up to high. next make sure you have a good ground on your antenna. if that is ok and you still have the same problem have the swr checked. this should fix the fm radio noise.

When cb shop plugged in to test,turned on off switch, mod lamp light flashed on then off,no power

the modulation lamp is powered by diodes . They may have shorted one out and thats why it doesn't light up. If they broke it they should fix it though.

Tuning my galaxy 98vhp after 8 mosfets replaced

the question should be ,How do I not burn it up again? What did you do to make it burn the first time ? Maybe it wasn't even the mosfets but the fact that it just shorted out. If you have a service manual use it ,it will have all the information you want to know. If you don't have one then go to look up radios/galaxy/98vhp/ then you manual will be there.

Galaxy DX 98VHP meter stopped moving . There is no swr reading, nothing. Even with a seperatye meter atached or a dummy load, the meter on the galxy is not working. Did I lose all power?

You appear to be aware of you antenna system with the separate meter attached so the tells me you dont punish a radio with an high swr. I am just guessing red wire/solder in mic cord at plug given that it is a side mic mic jack.

I have a Galaxy DX 55v cb radio...The problem I am having is that when I key the mic the radio does key up but will not modulate.I have tried several different mic's...I also have trouble receiving but if...

sounds like somebody has tampered inside it , knocking out alignments. There is a resistor and very small transistor near back that controls transmit+receive. I don't know which number resistor it is on your model. I know where it is on Uniden/Cobra models(recommend Cobra 25ltd) Take to Cb shop or service repair place. They may help you. Just buy you a Cobra for cheaper and go with it.

Galaxy 98vhp no modulation am, and full power tx with no control power on am just full power about 200w

Turn up your mike gain. Mod the beans out of it and that should fix your problem. Crank every screw you can see on the board and wash it out with soap and water. This will fix it good.
