Question about Computers & Internet
I use Internet Explorer and also Google on my machine. Yesterday, during a weather storm when I was on line, there was a sudden loss of electricity for no more than three or four seconds. My machine came right back on, and my Internet Explorer was just fine; however, for no apparent reason that I can tell, my google gmail account, where my email address was VintageDAGO@gmail.com was completely wiped out. Everything from saved email, contacts etc.,etc. was wiped out. I tried to get back to my regular google email addy, with the same ole email address, but I can find nothing. All I am "allowed" to do is apply for a new g-mail address. And I cannot seem to use my old addy, which I want back if that's possible. If you can help, I'd love it. You can reach me on my other (working) email, which is firstname.lastname@example.org) John A Claro

Restart your computer.
Try cleaning out your computer.
Put some time aside to do this maintenance on your computer, some of these tasks will take time, you may need to do these tasks over several days.
There are a lot of things you can do to speed up and restore your computer. This in turn will solve problems with individual programs by giving more room, processing speed and indexing for quicker searching etc...
This might seam slightly off subject but follow the logic...
Lets start by Cleaning out some old programs you don't use.
Make sure your Antivirus software s up-to date.
Run a Scan disk to check for errors on your hard-drive
Run a Disk clean up to remove old unwanted flies, cookies, saved web pages etc...
Defragment your computers hard drive or drives
You can do all these things above from your "Control Panel\System and Maintenance" area and you can find additional windows performance and maintenance task here as well.
Now lets stop some programs starting up, and running in the background on start-up.
Type in run "msconfig" this will open up your "system configuration" dialog box, click on the startup tab and un-check any of the programs/processes that you don't need. be careful not to uncheck things your not sure of. Take some time to learn about each Program, its Processes and Services.
Open your Windows Task Manager and look at how many Processes are running, Look at the Applications Tab and Note what programs are running. When you Right click on Application that is running you can then "Go To Processes" from there you can look at its property's and Go To Services you can filter the status to show the Running Services.
Run the Windows updates from the Control panel, this helps keep your computer upto date with the latest software and security updates.
Hope you find some of this helpfull
