Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
Machine error 7a on screen, "open cover" after I open cover it says close cover, when I close cover it says machine error 7a unplug and call brother
For the error code "7a" to be fixed permanently, you need to ensure that the main PCB is fine and is working in good condition.
If the error code is caused due to malfunctioning of the main motor, then you need to check the whole setup by connecting it with another motor.
In this case, make sure that there is no mechanical load present on the main board.
While fixing this error code, you will notice that the motor runs slowly initially and then picks up the speed later.

And brother would say...7a= Main motor does not synchronize with the reference clock, .... check.....
• Thermistor ASSY
• Main PCB
• Engine PCB
• Main motor
and fix i'd say is to replace main board.

Tips for a great answer:
Brother Laser Printers:
After replacing the drum unit, keep the front cover open (make sure the power is on). Press and hold the "GO" button until all four LED's are lit. Once the four LED's light up, close the front cover. Make sure the drum LED is off. The counter is reset!
Brother Fax Machines:
Open the front cover. Press the CLEAR/BACK button. Press 1, when the display shows accepted.
