Open Question

One Tooth Stripped from Gear in CFF-980 Chocolate Fountain.

My friend had this awesome chocolate fountain sitting in her basement and complained that it never worked. I got it to work for a couple of minutes but then the auger kept getting stuck.. After taking it apart, one of the gears in the gear box of the applience has one tooth broken and it gets stuck immediately if the chocolate thickens a little bit. Is there any way to get a replacement piece? or anyone has ideas on how to fix a broken gear?

SOURCE: replacement auger Rival CFF4 chocolate fountain

I don't have any problem with my stove. Your site forces you to choose an appliance and I just picked anything , hoping you would read my actual posting. I need an auger for a chocolate machine CFF4 by Rival. Your site comes up early on Google and says Rival+ parts so I had reason to hope you might have a resource to order the part I need.

My wife and I use one of these, and well she has her own little system of how she does it, but here is a great website that can for sure help you and answer all your questions of how much and what kind of chocolate.

I am looking for the recipe for the chocolate fountain. What is the ratio of chocolate chips to oil?

You can buy special chocolate fountain chocolate to use, or you can just use standard milk / dark chocolate chips and add 1/2 a cup of good vegetable or coconut oil for every pound (16 Oz) of chocolate.

There are many different variations on the recipe and you can Google CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN RECIPE to get an idea of the many different options which include adding cream or liqueur.

Basically you just want to melt your chocolate on the stove in a double boiler if possible.
If you use a microwave, then carefully heat only on low power and stir after every minute.

Pour the melted chocolate into the fountain base and turn on the fountain for a few minutes. Then shut it off for a minute to allow it to vent any air and restart.

You can always add a little more oil to the recipe if the chocolate does not flow properly.

Good luck and enjoy.

Instructions to CFF-986 chocolate fountain doesn't say how much melted chocolate to use. Also, is there a certain kind that is best to use?

It holds up to 3 pounds of melted chocolate, There is no certain brand of chocolate that works best but you will find that the smaller chocalate chips melt better and you will also need to add a little vegetable oil to keep it flowing properly.

I just purchased a chocolate fondue fountain without a manual. where do I put the chocolate? How long does it take to heat?

Put the chocolate in the bottom. Read the box to make sure you don't have to use a specific kind of chocolate. Depending on how much chocolate you are heating and whether it is already liquid when cold would determine heating time but usually 15-20 minutes would be the minimum time.
