I have a 70 series Kenmore dryer. I had some towels in it the other day, they finally got dry but the outside was very very hot to the touch, more than usual. Smelled like something was burning, but just slightly. The light inside comes on but when you hit the start button it doesn't do anything. I cleaned out the vent line. Any ideas? It is only about 5yrs old.

- Thanks! I've had a fuse replaced a couple of times in the last year but still never seemed to dry completely sometimes. Guess they may have missed the real problem..Jun 10, 2009
- Yeah, it never dries my towels on the first cycle, maybe it just isn't built for it. I will try to find the parts on the next two days.. Thanks a lot. I already used my blower to clean out the vent line..Jun 21, 2009
- I just replaced the thermal fuse and it is working. I also used my blower to clean out the lint from the dryer line and blew all the lint from the back of the dryer. The top still seems a little bit hot so I am a bit nervous. I am going to throw some clothes in it and see how it goes. Do you think I should replace the thermostat too just in case?Jun 21, 2009
- I put a few loads in, seems to dry pretty good. The outside is kind of hot but I don't smell anything burning. I will keep an eye on it.. Thanks for all your help!!!Jun 25, 2009
- I ran the dryer for about 30 minutes tonight and the clothes were very very hot, as well as the outside. I'm ordering both thermostat's to replace so hopefully that will take care of the problem. I will let you know and thanks again!!Oct 17, 2009
- It was the vent, it was full of lint. I bought a line cleaner off Amazon and cleaned it out, works great. Thanks
