Coils freeze up and fridge runs all the time till I melt coils.

There might be a few causes

Door Seal might be defective causing the door not to shut tightly this causes air from the room to get into the freezer through the opening and as the air comes in contact with the evaporator coils, it freezes. Normally the defrost system removes the ice but if the seal is defective the coils freeze too quickly and the defrost system cant keep up

If the freezer evaporator coils ice over, the defrost thermostat might be defective. Several times a day the defrost heater turns on for a few minutes to melt away any frost that may have accumulated on the freezer evaporator coils. In order for this to work, the defrost thermostat has to sense that the coils are cold enough. If the coils are cold enough the defrost heater will turn on. If the thermostat is defective it may not be able to sense the temperature of the coils and then won't turn on the defrost heater. If the defrost heater doesn't turn on, the evaporator coils ice over and eventually no air will be able to travel through the coils to provide cooling to the freezer. The defrost thermostat can be checked for continuity. It should have continuity when it reaches the low temperature of its operating range.

Freezer side not freezing

Check for ice / frosting inside the freezer .... If present you probably have a defrost problem.... This causes the freezer coil to ice up and block the air flow ... the causes could be a bad defrost heater , defrost timer, defrost sensors, or control board. Also make sure that the condenser coil is clean. remove ALL dust with a vacuum and a coil brush .the coil is located either on the bottom or on the back side of the unit... Refrigerator is cold, freezer not freezing

Amana refrig have 2 main problems . 1 is the defrost bimetal ( 1" cylinder at the top right on the freezer coils with 2 wires ) and the other is a refrigerant leak where the copper tubing joins the aluminum tubing at the freezer coils ( evaporator coils ) . If your freezer fan is not working and you have frost on the freezer coils then replace the bimetal as this also controls the defrost heater ( defrost thermostat ) . If you have no frost on the coils ( for both checks , you will have to remove the inside rear freezer panel , maybe 12 screws ) , then a refrigerant leak has happened and the best solution would be to replace the refrig .

Check to condenser coil and make sure it is clean and the fan near it is running when the compressor is on. Check for ice build up in the freezer. If the evaporator coil is iced up the box will run warm. It may be a defrost problem, a dirty condenser, or a refrigerant issue.

Vacuum condenser message and freezer coils freezing up

You have a blockage in the coils you will have to call a tech out to have it looked atunless you have all the tools to fix it, could be a defrost unit going bad, however when the coils are freezing it means it's going to be a big job. And depending on make and modle may not be worth fixing.

Freezer side not freezing

Turn off the refrigerator.Remove the freezer shelves/bins and rear panel.
Take a hair dyer and thaw the ice completely. The defrost heater will be across the bottom of the freezer coil. The defrost thermostat will be attached to a refrigerant coil at the top of the freezer coil.It is about the size of a quarter and 1/2 inch thick. There will be wires from top to bottom on the sides of the coil.

In the freezer coil is a defrost heater coil, and a defrost thermostat. You have to expose the freezer coil to find them. If your local dealer can't get parts, I get mine from Repairclinic.com.
