Question about Polaroid FLM-3732 Television

1 Answer

Oversaturated Greens, Noise from Speakers, unresponsive buttons

I found a TV by a dumpster. When I plug it in with no devices connected, I get the blue screen and "No Signal" and a very loud screaming noise. I opened the TV and disconnected the speakers and it stopped the noise. I plugged the TV into my computer's HDMI port and I get video, but everything has a green cast to it. Attempts to correct for this on the TV's color settings or on the video card's color settings were unsuccessful. Changing the TV's saturation setting to 0 produces a good black and white image. After being plugged in for a short time, the buttons on the TV stop working (including the Power button) and it will not respond to the remote control. It does, however, continue to display video. It has to be unplugged to get out of this. A couple of times when I've plugged it in, on the Polaroid startup screen, there will be changing horizontal lines that do not go all the way across the screen, and then it freezes up.

This is meant to be under televisions, not PC notebooks.

I have the same TV and I just replaced the Capacitors. It came with 2 10000UF 10V caps and I put in 2 1000UF 35Volt caps from radio shack. Its like brand new. There is even a video on how to change them on You Tube.

I have a Dell W3706MH tv monitor and the sound just stop working. I unplugged the speakers and plugged them back in still no sound. I unplugged them because it was making a loud buzzing and popping noise...

If possible, plug the speakers into a portable device such as a cell phone, portable cd player or a tv that is equipped with a headphone jack (if speakers have the jack). If not, if the speakers have the red and white, ref and black or black and white male end connectors, plug them into a tv or dvd\blue ray player. If you get sound they are good, and you need to adjust your sound options on your computer. Let me know if this helps\works. Also, not all speakers are compatible with all computers and must have the same sound level equivalence to the device they are being used with. i.e. Ohms etc.

Found a Vizio VO42L By the dumpster and want to try and repair it. I plug it in and the orange logo lights up, press power and it turns on and the logo lights up white but picture flickers with horion

Sounds like it might be a solder joint. use the meter and check the ohms on each side of the solder joints on the board where the serial cables connect to the boards. it would be a good idea to check as many joints as you have time to. If it is a LED TV check Led control board for bad joints. if it uses Flourocarbon tubes check the transisters on each lighting control board. you may only have one board working causing partial back lighting.

Unplugged all cords in back -- when I plugged back in I lost alot of the color - mostly greens and purples now? What happened?

The connections at the rear are not proper. If you are connecting composite Video, please follow the color codes and Y/G/R markings on the TV as well as your device. Always remember to connect the yellow RC jack to yellow RC socket. It is better to follow instructions given in the operation manuals of both.

Screeching noise coming from my tv

Is the sound coming from the speakers or from the actual television? If from the speakers, I would check all connections for the sound system. If from the actual television frame and housing, check for a fan ( to cool electronics) canned air or compressed air can work wonders for cleaning out dust which can cause mechanical sounds. If it's coming from the speakers, there is an electronic problem which is usually related to cable connection issues. Have you made any changes recently? If so, check those connections. Unplug them, and make sure they are securely plugged in. I would assume this would fix any problems, if not, there is a problem with one of your devices... I'm convinced you have a bad connection somewhere or a bad audio cable.

Garmin is unresponsive. Won't power up or turn

I have a Garmin c340 that would not turn on.
I found the hidden reset button and it works now.

With the display unit facing you, the aluminum cover plate has the the word GARMIN on it. Use you fingernail under the word Garmin and the cover plate comes off. The left part of the cover stays attached to GPS and the right side lifts up exposing the RESET button. I pressed RESET and POWER together and it works now.
