Check the thermostat, water pump, and the head gasket. Even if you replaced the thermostat it is possible to get a bad one.

your building to much pressure and that's related to you overheating ,start by checking cooling system ,possible have it flushed out ,your thermostst my be sticking closed causing overheating, also check radiator cap ,if overheating it should blow off into expantion tank, make sure levels are full , some motors have air bleeder screws that remove the air in the cooling system and that will trap air in the cooling system causing overheating.

Phaeton overheating problem

hello all. anyone with Volkswagen phaeton that is having overheating problems need to read this:
if your car is overheating and you did all the services to it and still overheating then you must take it to a shop that have special machine to bleed the system .thos cars are very sensetive to air in the system this is what you have to look for:

-check for leaks in the system
-check for cracks in the hoses or specially the extra valve on the coolant expansion bottle they tend to crack and start seeping air in to the system over night while its cooling down .just watch your car overheating problem it will do it only after it sets for a while and cool down then after it overheat it will go back to normal the whole day like nothing is wrong and will do the same thing next day..once you bleed the system from air pockets then your problem is solved. i have a phaeton and it took me 4 month to find out what is wrong with it exactly . mine had crack in the expantion tank neck that was bringing air in the system overnight ..after changing that part it did better for little while then went back to overheat again tell i found the problem . i did not bleed the system correct i had to take it to special place where they had that bleeding machine and its all good now.if you call the dealer and he tells you its normal that they run hot then you know that your dealer don't know shiit.. good luck hope this will help someone..
p.s: dont worry about the oil temp its not really a good way to tell your engine temp . if your Gage going up in the temp then your car is overheating its that simple..

Full coolant level does not mean your engine cannot overheat. You need to fix the problem as overheating will destroy the engine if not addressed.

The radiator cooling fans must be working, as must the water pump. The thermostat must also be working properly.
There must also be no air in the cooling system as air locks will impair water flow. When cooling systems are drained fully or partially and re-filled air in the system must be bled out using the correct bleeding procedure for the particular engine/cooling system. Failure to do this properly will lead to overheating.

If you ONLY see the overheating warning when running your aircon you need to check that the electric radaitor fans are kicking in at idle when you switch on and run the aircon and the engine has been warmed up some. If they do not start operating when the a/c is running you will get an overheating condition in normal driving conditions.

If the radiator fans are operating normally and you still get an overheating warning when the aircon is on or off the most likely culprit is a faulty thermostat in the engine's cooling system which will need to be replaced.

If you have either a faulty thermostat or if the water pump in the cooling system fails you will get continuous overheating whether the aircon is on or off.

06 pathfinder overheated changed radiator, cooling sensor, and thermostat still overheating

if you have no coolant leaks and all the air is out of the system then you have covered most of the things that can cause over heating.if this has a clutch fan it may not be working properly or if it has an electric fan it may not be coming on.both of these can cause a could be a water pump that has a bad impellar not circulating the coolant.the other item it could be is a bad head gasket, which you can have a combustion gas test done on the cooling system.

I am getting an engine system failure light coming out on my 2005 ford focus. The first day I checked oil and water. The oil was slightly low and I topped up. The water appeared to be overheating and I...

Sounds to me like you are having a cooling system problem, if water is boiling in the tank or radiator then the engine is overheating. If you have not flushed the cooling system, it would be a good idea to do so. Also you need to test the cooling system at idle and see if the engine will maintain normal temperature, without overheating. Overheating can be caused by plugged or restricted radiator, hoses, or the thermostat, also check the operation of the electric cooling fan. Once you solve the overheating you light should stay off. If you do not solve the overheating soon, the engine will suffer major damage, so check it out very soon. Hope this helps, let me know.

II have a 98 deville changed thermostat 3 months ago, started overheating yesterday after i checked my coolant level

The most common overheating problem with the Northstar engine is a blocked purge line. It's job is to purge air out of the cooling system.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank, this is the purge line.
With the engine idling, pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating. If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.

Getting hot very much and battery getting over soon

You probably have a failure in the computer cooling system and should take it in to a service center to check the cooling system operation. If you wait too long you may find that you have a processor failure or motherboard damage.Overheating problems are a major cause of laptop failures. They need to have cooling devices attached to them and cooling fans underneath them to protect them from overheating.Hope this helps you with your problem.
