Question about Mitsubishi VS-60707 60" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Mitsubishi VS-60707 60 in. Rear Projection Television

When I turn the tv the picture is dim.  It seems to get better when the tv warms up.  Also, there is a horizontal wavy line at the top and bottom of the screen.  Can you please help?  My e-mail address is georgesnyder@north-woodlands.com

Thanks,

George

When it gets better after warm up it can be a capacitor in the 160 Volt high voltage circuit or a cold solder joint. these 2 thinks would be my best guess on this set.

TV has dim picture

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, it would seem to be heat related and/or a cold solder issue. I doubt very much if any major component is defective, at most probably would be a capacitor in the main B+ line leading to the HOT (horizontal out). But that has to be confirmed visually and/or a voltage check on initial power up. best approach would be to open the rear, do some voltage measurements before warm up and after warmed up. Compare these readings and reference the Service Manual. Of course special care and attention since you would be working on a live set.

Check and perform preliminary visual or necessary inspection. Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

on the signal board replace the caps by the 5/9 volt regulators. c2p04 is the main culprit. 6 caps in total can be changed. I believe c2p05 also.

Mitsubishi VS-45607 Picture flickers and dims

It could be a bad solder connection that opens up as the set warms up. It could also be caused by a couple of bad capacitors, C2p05 (100uf/16v) Located By Ic2p01 and check C2c52 (10uf/50v) Located near Q2c51. A technican will be able to fix it for about what you paid for it I suppose.
