Question about Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 500 GB USB 3.0 Hard Drive
Hi my drive fall from 2 feet, But it was working well .Later after some days it start giving reading issue after searching i found "chkdsk /f" command can fix its MBR. But it didnt work and make usb drive read only. after 2-3 days its now not deducting drive and giving 3 beep sound like "buzz beep buzz beep buzz beep" only 3 beep .. is there any way to get data get from the drive. and any chance to get it working?
I would say if it was spinning when it dropped, you are probably out of luck. There are services available for platter recovery, but they are quite expensive. Practice the 3 backup policy.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
Here's a link to this great service

You still need assistance in cracking open the Seagate Freeagent Pro 500GB and trying data/file recovery? If yes, would appreciate a post back.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: MY SEAGATE 500GB HARD DRIVE
The disk-drive has malfunctioned.
Search online for a professional "data recovery service".
For a significant fee, they can repair your disk-drive,
just long-enough to copy your files to a new disk-drive.
If it still has a valid WARRANTY, exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.
If the warranty has expired, then open the case, remove the disk-drive, buy a new "compatible" disk-drive, connect it, and thus "revive" your external storage device.

SOURCE: I bumped my Seagate 1
In my opinion, the r/w heads have crashed on the surface or malfunctioned so that the voice coil has retracted the heads and will not allow the disk to function, thus the beeping. You have to decide if the data is worth recovering, i.e many bucks for a recovery company to get your data. If you open it up, it will allow dust in that will contaminate the data. In order to recovery the data, the disk has to be opened in a ultra clean environment and the disk taken from that drive and placed in another drives electronics and heads so that the disk will operate and your data can be copied out to another drive. As you can see it is a labor intensive process that will cost. Also the data recovery company cannot or will not guarantee success, and you still pay for them to try.
