Question about Heating & Cooling

Ideal logic boiler l2

Hi, im having a living nightmare with my logic combi 24 and since day 1 which was 3 and a half years ago it has always on regular occasions locked out and flashed L2. very rarely can i get it to restart again and if i do it only lasts an hour if that and locks out again. iv had more than 10 different plumbers come to it and even a new electorode been put in but despite them getting the boiler going its been a few hours later its back to square one lockout. these cheeky beggars then want paying as they claim there work is done as they got the boiler on and going when they were present. pure cheek if you ask me as a decent tradesmen wouldnt do or say that. what they needed to do was admit they couldnt fix the problem with their 15,20,25 years experience and just say that. please help i have 4 kids and were neth heat or hot water and cant be paying anymore dodgy plumbers when the jobs not getting done. thankyou

Hi Donna. I'm Roger. Sorry, I am not a plumber. I earned one of my Journeyman cards in the various heating trades. I don't know how to stay with you for sure but I"ll give it my best. Can you tell me what an L2 code means? There should be a list of the codes on a laminated card on the front panel or on the inside of the front panel. Your exact model and full model number will help also. I"ll need to look it up but will let you know when I get it. Thank you. Roger

My ideal logic combi 30+ is saying ignition lockout and my radiatiors arent heating up as well as my water not turning hot. How can i fix this please?

Lockout is a safety feature. Usually a latching condition and needs to be investigated rather than blindly reset. (The Combi has a bit more intelligence.) With the ignition locked out, you can't hi-fire the boiler, so no hot water of either type. The 'L' should also show a code number - check your user manual (google) for more guidance.

I've had a lockout on a non-combi: it was caused by lack of circulation of central heating water through the boiler.... The system boiled and the trip tripped. The pump WAS running, but wear in a valve actuator resulted in the valve feedback saying valve open while it was physically shut.

MY IDEAL LOGIC 30 HAS FAULT CODE L2 ALMOST EVERY DAY SINCE INSTALATION DEC 2010

is boiler still under warranty?
normal warranty lasts at least 2 years
if so get ideal to send one of their engineers out
L2 relates to flame failure
either boiler has failed to ignite
or
boiler has not detected flame once lit

several causes

failure to ignite
ignition electrode/spark generator

failure to detect lit flame
detection electrode/detection lead

blocked condensate pipe
or defective condensate syphonic trap

you really need an engineer to check these components

Hi,
You have a problem that the installer does not know how to fix so they are just stringing you along hoping that you will give up and find some one else or forget about it..
You need to tell them to
1. fix the boiler correctly
2.take it back out and give you a new one at their expense
3. or tell them you will call another comapny to fix it and will give the bill to them to pay.
You did not get what you have paid for... do not pay them any money to come out and troubleshoot the boiler.
The boiler should work as the instructions say or someone did something wrong...
Sometimes it is best to call the boiler company and talk directly to their Tech. Support people.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

All the combis I've come across merely fail to fire if the pressure is not up. not only do they not fire, nothing else works including the pump and in any event the pump should not overheat just on low pressure.
water loss - try turning off the valves on the flow & return pipes [3/4 inch ones] 1 valve per pipe . This will isolate the rest of the system - rads etc Note pressure over a time period. In this mode the hot water circuit will still work but do NOT use the heating circuit
1/2 bar over 2 days is not serious but it should be found
Once you have either mended the leak in the rest of the system or found there is not one, insist on a replacement boiler
In any event having looked at the reasons given for the fuse blowing, I would definitely get a replacement.
These problems should not happen on a new boiler
I list Worcester.-Ariston-GlowWorm-Ideal- and many others who would confirm this

Combi boiler problem

most have an overrun built in for a few minutes. if much longer have you got a room thermostat anywhere to turn down
If it never turns off check the switch which controls ON/TIMED/OFF and turn to timed or off. if it still continues on timed then it's the timer

My aristion DIA 20-24 combi boiler keeps tripping the over heat thermostat button located under the main control panel maybe 5 times a day seems to be getting more frequent

hi,

just check your water supply of your aristion DIA 20-24 combi boiler if is in constant pressure. not properly circulated water supply can cause overheating.

and manuals can help us also in proper checking. at the link below please check this out if you don't have.
