Question about Sony Audio Players & Recorders
Hi, I have a str-w770 amp and im find that on the right channel there's popping sounds & a slight humming. I fond that if i say change functions or if i reduce the volume from say level 1 to Level 0 (off) i get the popping. Have you seen this type of issue? Any ideas? thanks Joe
It could be just a lead, check your lead heads and inserts are clean.
Check along your leads and wires for any obvious kinks / tight bends / cuts / nicks / something sitting down on it or any damage to the wires.
It could be just the dials / knobs need taking off and cleaning in behind. the pickups, you may not need to remove them just spray with electronic cleaner this stuff is great for lots of differnts electrical cleaning problems.

Speaker fuses are generally fast-blow styles 250 volt glass
If an amp shuts down, with speakers connected, it sounds like one of the power supply lines does NOT like what it's "seeing" . Probably output transistors bad ( or module)
Take it to a tech.

Sounds like your Power FET's are gone. Take it to a shop that specializes in high end or vintage gear. ....good luck...Rob

If swapping of left and right input sources and left and right speakers does not help...you might have a bad channel in your amp.

had exactly the same problem myself, changed the balance, and the selector until Sugden suggested the relay. this did the job, and my amp is sorted. Shouldv'e changed this in the first place. Good as new.

I had the same problem on my VTX65. I noticed it would oscillate with different effects so I removed the effects module. Problem solved. Now it's dead quiet. I use a Digitech RP500 so removing the effects module was a non issue.
