Turns on then turns off in seconds

There is a short circuit in the main board to this TV. Check its horizontal scan output transistor for short. Short circuit protection circuit activates and shuts down the TV from preventing further damage, is happening here. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Does the same thing happen if you turn it on without the remote?

If not, it's likely a short in either the remote or the sensor on the TV that receives the remote signal. A short in either would break the power on signal into two separate signals, which the TV would interpret as you hitting the power button twice, and would thus turn on and then immediately back off. If that's your problem, I'd suggest getting ahold of another remote for your set, or a universal remote that you can program for your set. There's a good chance that will fix it, and it's much easier than trying to fix the sensor.

If the same thing is happening when you use the power button on the TV, we have an entirely different problem, most likely a short somewhere. The power supply detects the short and shuts itself off to avoid doing more damage (or causing a fire). Sort of like how a circuit breaker works. That would explain it turning on and back off immediately. If that's your problem, you'll have to have someone who's handy with electronics take a meter to it and find the short. How you fix it will depend on exactly where the short is.

Samsung TV model LN32A450C1DXZA, after turning the TV on it will turn itself off shortly after and then turn itself back on shortly thereafter. Then it repeats that several times before staying on.

Hi there,

If the tv is still under warranty, this can be repaired at no charge.

However, if not under warranty, you will need to have the CAPACITORS on the main power supply circuit board tested (or replaced).

The capacitors responsible for the power supply can sometimes fail - open the back panel. If the capacitors on the main power supply board look too fat, or signs of burning near the solder joints, then you've found the problem.

Hope this helps.

TV turns on for few seconds then turns itself off

It is power supply mistake. There are regulators fitted inside your tv circut board, which are direcly soldered to printed circuit board. After years of age, the soldering points gets heated and cooled, as the reguators will get heated while working. Resolder the juction will retify the problem. If it does not help check for any short circuit in it. A small value high voltage cpacitor fitted to the collector of the horizontal output transistor, usually [330pf 2000v] will get shorted to earth. If it gets shorted it is an effect of direct short to the 120vDC power supply rails in your tv.

Turn power on, approx. 30 sec later it the power

It varies as to what is actually making the TV shut down. Shorting the connectors on the A.C. plug have nothing to do with it turning back on. Its just the fact you are unpugging it for a few moments.

A component is shorting out, and the TV is auto turning itself off for protection. Usually it is a shorted out horizontal output transistor. Only a tech can fix this.

Tv does not turn on.

There is probably a short or a near short loading the power supply circuit, a leaky capacitor, shorting diode, transistor,IC,LOPT etc. Have the set checked by a technician near you.

It is still worth repairing!

Tv not working

I think you have a bad flyback transformer and shorted horizontal output transistor. The flyback (high voltage) transformer shorted and caused the transistor to short. You need to get a tech to check it for you and get an estimate. The noise you hear is the power supply singing telling you that it has a short on it's load. Stargazer
