Download this manual and turn to page 25. You will see the setting where you have to change the stitch selector on the front of the machine to DISC.

SOURCE: does the singer 3116 come with a blind stitch for hemming

Most sewing machines come with a blind hem stitch. It is the one that looks like several small zig-zags then occasionally a large one, or several straight stitches then a large zig-zag. Either will result in an invisible hem.

Some machines have a special foot but it is not necessary, mine does not. There is however a special way of folding the fabric.

I have a Singer Curvy 8780. All I want to do is sew a straight stitch. What are the settings?

You'll need stitch pattern 01 in the first group after you press the utility stitch button (top button on the left of the 4 way arrow keys). Press button A (the left most up-arrow below the LCD screen). Use buttons B (move left) & C (move right) to select the needle position and D (shorter) & E (longer) to adjust the stitch length. E is the right-hand button in the group. Start with the tension set to Auto and adjust as needed based on your fabric and thread. For normal straight seams, start with the default settings.

Singer has the manual for the Curvy 8780 on the product site: http://www.singerco.com/products/1545/8780-curvy#type-support . The direct link to the manual is http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/089a99d1802347d9441d83e8a591e6d0db17b80c.pdf . See page 30 for the stitch pattern; page 40 starts a longer discussion of straight stitching.

I hope this helps.

Why are some of the pattern lights green and some green on the singer model #9217

It generally means that your machine cannot do that stitch with its present settings. I took a look at your manual, and it lists the stitches and what they're for. They also mention that your needle must be in the center position for any zigzag stitches; you can only position the needle to the right or left when you're straight stitching. If you do not have your manual, you can download one free at the Singer sewing machine site.

Need information re Pattern selection on Singer Sewing machine 5830C

Both the instruction manual and a workbook are available at the Singer Sewing Machine site, and you can download them free. They both will be able to tell you how to select your patterns.

I just took a look at the user's manual, and pattern selection is on page 42.

From the pattern selector (the bigger dial), select the zig-zag stitch. Then, using the stitch length dial (the smaller dial), adjust the stitch length. The closer your stitch length is to "0", the more dense will your zig-zag stitch be.

How do you use the pattern stitching module in singer model 2732. I have the Manuel but still don't understand how it works. I have followed instructions and nothing happens. I must be doing something...

Have you installed the stitch selector pattern module for the patterns you want, seated it properly as outlined on page 52 of the instruction book following all 7 steps? (Page 54 identifies the knobs and lever's that need to be moved to successfully install the pattern module)

If that is done correctly, then selecting a stitch is done with the stitch selector lever being moved under the letter corresponding to the stitch you are trying to select. (Shown beginning page 55) You also need to move the stitch length knob as indicated.

You will need to be sure you are following the instructions very carefully as there are a number of settings that need to be made to ensure you get the stitch you are trying to achieve.

I hope this helps you.
