So eat grain fed meats of all 4 types, fresh fish, fruits and vegetables. It is an expensive diet for the protein, but is a healthy diet if you have lots of fresh vegetables. Eat nothing processed.

One of the issues with tilapia farmed in China is that smaller, independent farmers face economic pressures to use animal manure rather than more expensive commercial feed for farmed fish, a practice which contaminates water and makes the fish more susceptible to spreading foodborne diseases.
A July 2009 report from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on the safety of food imports from China noted that in that country "Fish are often raised in ponds where they feed on waste from poultry and livestock" and cited an increased rate of FDA rejection of fish imports from China between 2000 and 2008.

What is a fish food pyramid? Is it more sophisticated that a fish block?

Take a look at the SeaPets website. They sell a pyramid that releases food slowly and on day 4, releases a surprise block of worms for your fish to eat.

How often do I need to feed my fish?

Regular fish (not carnivores) should be fed one in two days they amount of food they can consume in a two minute period. A carnivore fish, lobster for instance, should be fed every day because if you don't he'll eat one of your fish instead.

Can I feed my fish cat food?

I do not recommend feeding your fish anything other thanfish food. Fish food is specificallydesigned to be nutritious and digestible to fish. You cannot say the same about any otheranimals' food. If you are out of fishfood, you can feed fish soggy bread crumbs for up to 24 hours before theyrequire something more substantial.b>

Dishes smell like fish

Hi, I've been scanning this for awhile as I have this problem on and off. I have watched what I have been cooking and have come to the conclusion it's to do with eggs.  I always noticed it when we had eggs ( they are fed with ground up fish) so changed to vegetarian  fed  chicken eggs and problem got better, I only notice it now if I use a salad cream or mayonnaise type products with egg added in the ingredients and I hand wash these away from all other items.  I have noticed many comments on hygiene, but if you have this problem you become a cleaning nut trying to get rid of it. I always clean with vinegar and bleach and it did not work with this one. Hope this helps
