Mixer fails immediately after start-up.

First owner of occasionally used KA hand mixer (Atisan 7) Mod. KHM7TWH5 which now suddenly stops within 3-4 seconds of pressing the ON button at Speed 1. An immediate movement to higher speeds has no effect and mixer again stops within seconds.
Also, the red speed indicator "0" and subsequent speed numbers are not fully displayed when operated - each number shows incomplete in one of its display sections. In every other aspect this mixer is in excellent, little-used condition and stored correctly.
I live on a remote island without ease of Service after expiration of Warranty; I have hitherto been a pleased customer enjoying the legendary quality and reliability of your KitchenAid appliances. Should I now look elsewhere or can you advise me of a remedial fix ? Thanks
