I have this machine for more than 30 yrs-- when this happens, the top thread is not pulled through the little disks correctly when you go up before getting to the arm. Here is a threading diagram

SOURCE: singer futura model 900 sewing machine

Recently had same problem. Underneath the bobbin area on the bottom of the machine is a small white plastic piece that resembles a fan. Singer calls this the bobbin cam actuator. It is usually cracked along the sleeve that fits over the metal pin, bar? This is the mechanism that lifts the bobbin when it is wound. When its broken it can't lift the bobbin to be wound properly.

Are you using bobbin thread? Is your thead new? Is themachine threaded correctly?

Make sure that when you thread the upper part the thread go under the circle that pull it.

Another thing is that when you hit the start button, pull the upper thread until the machine goes two or three times. It helps the bobbin thread to come up and the machine start sewing.I you leave it along the thread sometimes doesnot comes up and that is why the machine beeps.

I use this technique to make sure it doesnt beep and to cut the thread (the one at the beginning so it doesn't mess my design)

Singer futura quartet embroidery machine's bobbin area is tangling up the top thread. the top thread never breaks it just clogs up in the bobbin compartment can you help?

Be sure that when you thread the top thread, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot. This allows the thread to seat firmly in the tension disk. Sounds like what you are experiencing is called bird nesting or thread nesting.

Singer futura quartet seqs 6000 keeps giving me a broken thread error. Thread is not broken and I have done tried the unwaxed dental floss and canned air, Please help

Hello
Embroidery sewing machines will often give this error message due to low "drag" on the thread. Try placing the spool of thread upright into a cup on the floor and lead-up the thread as normal for threading. Make sure that the thread does not catch on the thread lock on the spool.

Happy stitching

First, look for a replacement bobbin case for your machine. And while you doing that, also look for a beading foot.

Try some of the online sewing vendors:

Finding a beading foot make be difficult, but you may be able to find a snap-on adapter and a snap-on beading foot for your machine.

Which one is the best for Embroidery Singer XL 420 or Singer SEQs 6000?

Difficult to advise since we really don't know your criteria.

SEQS 6000 FUTURA QUARTET
FWIW, I would be hesitant to purchase a machine with so many functions, ie sewing, embroidery, serging. Seems like a lot of things to go wrong.

XL 420 FUTURA

Your best bet is to do a lot of research on the internet. Read the reviews from people who have purchased these machines. Then go talk to a Singer specialist. Only when you have gathered as much information as you can are you able to make an educated decision.

WHY does my SINGER 420 xl leave thread loops on the top of my design...I am so sick of this machine..Singer does NOT stand behind their products..I WILL NEVER BUY SINGER AGAIN!

You're probably correct. The new Singers are not what they used to be...Singer was bought out a few years ago and many buyers have registered their regrets and disappointment with the new products and service.

Most complaints about sewing machine problems concern thread loops under the fabric, which are usually caused by the upper thread. Your problem is not as common. Generally, when thread problems occur on the top of the fabric, it is a bobbin issue.

Try a brand new needle. Make sure the needle, thread, and fabric are compatible. Also, check that the needle is installed correctly.

All About Needles

Remove the thread from the machine. Check that the machine is clean--no lint, dust bunnies, thread pieces in the bobbin area, stuck in the feed dogs, or under the needleplate.

ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading. Rethread the machine from the beginning. Check that the thread path is correct for the upper thread and that the bobbin case is loaded and threaded properly. Use the same thread for both upper and bobbin.

Most machine standard upper tension is set at the midway point. However, this is just a beginning point. The tension differs from one machine to another and may need adjusting depending on the fabric you are sewing.

Retest your machine.

If loops are still forming on the top of the fabric, then the bobbin tension may be too loose. Try tightening the bobbin tension (only 1/8th of a turn at a time!).

Understanding Thread Tension Threads

Sometimes it is a thread issue. Experiment with different brands of thread. Avoid old or bargain bin threads (the thread in bins at the fabric store are not the best, also Coats & Clark may not work well in your machine). Stick with better quality threads, ie Gutermann, Aurofil, Isocord, etc. Be sure to use the type of thread that is suitable for your project, ie do not use embroidery or cotton thread for sewing garment seams unless you want to be embarrassed when the seams start popping... Polyester used to be the bane of sewing projects but is now used for many items because the quality has improved and, in some cases, surpassed the former favorite cotton. Polyester is light weight but strong. Some machines just do better with one brand of thread over another.

You may also consider testing the machine with different types of fabric to see if it performs better with a particular fabric type or weight.

If it continues to be a problem, perhaps the bobbin case is damaged or malfunctioning. If you cannot find the answer to your problem, you may just need to take it for service.

Futura Quartet embroidery thread breaks

first unthread completely the machine and rethread it checking all the places run smooth. Change the needle for a new one with the correct size for your fabric and project. Clean the bobbin case and surround areas with a brush making sure is neat and no any fluf left behind. Put a fresh feel bobbin and try again. Sure will do the trick and will run perfect again. Happy sewing!!!!!
