Re: massive computer problems

Okay...a few questions:

What version of windows are you using?

What were you doing on the computer before your internet connection was disconnected?

Do you have a spyware removal program (adaware, spybot)? if so, which one?

A few more details on:

WoW,  window defender, etc. not working...what happens when you try to run them?

which windows updates are not working? what do you mean when you say they're not working?

I am having problems extending wifi range

Things That Affect Wireless Router Signals
1. Many wireless routers are using the same wireless channel. Many manufacturers choose channel 6 as the default. Change to another channel. 2. Analogue video senders used to send audio and video to other TVs in the home. 3. Microwave ovens emit interference in the 2.4GHz band. 4. Wireless speakers and console controllers can cause interference with the wireless router. 5. Bluetooth devices, newer Bluetooth devices can jump to different frequencies if there is a connection problem. 6. Power cables located near the wireless router can cause dropouts and speed reduction. 7. Fish tanks will cause massive Wi-Fi shadow on the other side of the tank from the wireless router. 8. Depending upon the location of large mirrors will reflect wireless signal away your computer. 9. Building materials will block wireless signals such as plasterboards with metal foil, reinforced concrete walls and floors. Also objects near the wireless router such as metal filing cabinets and other electrical appliances. 10. Blinking Christmas lights can reduce Wi-Fi performance by 25% when it is close to the wireless router.

My 65" samsung turns off when i connect my laptop

Hi Spence,
Is the TV set to "VGA"? If the TV does not detect a signal, it won't stay on, only go to a sleep mode. Make sure the cable is securely connected to the TV as well. You may go to the settings and check the power saver settings, but I don't think this has anything to do with it, I only offer it as another avenue to pursue.
Best luck

How much does it cost?

Product Coolermaster Sileo 500
ATX Mid Tower Case Manufacturer Coolermaster Market Price US$70~$100

To this point Coolermaster has had a reputation for putting out cases that are either simple and utilitarian, or massive and complex. The Sileo 500 is decidedly different - it is marketed specifically as a quiet enclosure. Its name you may think is fake Italian for "silly" but it's actually Latin for "silent." Fancy, eh?

PC show the message and hang and black screen .

You are going to have to start with basic troubleshooting first.

TAKE notes as to where cables were etc. (digital camera would be useful here)

Disconnect all devices from the power supply EXCEPT the motherboard
Remove any extra cards including video etc.(plug monitor into the on-board)
Disconnect all drives

Power u the computer and make sure you can at least get into the BIOS.

If you hear any beeps these can indicate where the fault is.

Power up the PC and see if the fans are working.
If not then double check the power connections to the board.

If you still have no fans it is time to suspect the power supply as the probable cause.

If the fans worked then you should have gotten a display which told you there was an error and offering you a chance to go into the BIOS. ignore it and shut down the PC.

Now connect one drive only and boot again.
Repeat that until you identify the component that is giving you a problem.

Once you find the problem then remove or disconnect and carry on with the rest to see if another component might also cause a problem

If there is only one problem device then you may want to investigate that device further, Unless you don't mind replacing it

If its not the PSU and your fans are working it may suggest a problem with either the motherboard or CPU

Ultra m923 mid-tower case won't stop beeping

The problem is the board on the case's display. It has temp alarms for your components(video card, hdd, cpu), there are temp probes for you to set so you can monitor these temps. However the board that controls these functions, or at least mine and many others I have read about, is defective. It will change display constantly and sometimes have garbage display. It is setting its own limits for what is considered a hi temperature. The limit it has set for one of your components is < room temperature so it thinks you are having an overheating problem. You can manually set the limit for overheat and it will fix it for a while, but it will prob happen again.

Momentary switch won't turn on pc

Open the computer and check the cable that comes from the power switch and goes to the front panel header on the motherboard. Make sure it is connected. If it is, you need to check if the switch is working. Two ways: check resistence at the end where it connects to the motherboard with it disconnected and turn switch on and off. If you don't have a ohm meter, you can also short the two pins that the power switch cable connects to. If it still doesn't power up, then it can be three things. The memory, or the cpu, or the motherboard. Swap each one at time until you determine what is causing the problem.
