No picture on tv samsung

Capacitors are blown. I have repaired a few of these. Samsung is known for putting capacitors in that are just big enough to run the TV. They last about 1 to 2 yrs and then blow. Check out youtube and see what there is on there. I replaced all the capacitors on mine. There were 11 of them. I put in a slightly larger capacitor size. It works well and has been for 2 yrs now.

Samsung blown capacitors

Hello Chuck,

Before you replace the capacitors on the power supply board you need to check with Samsung. Your TV model falls under the class action lawsuit settlement and Samsung has agree to repair any TVs with faulty capacitors on the power supply board that were affected. You can get full details on the settlement here:

http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/samsung-has-reached-a-settlement-in-class-action-lawsuit-over-faulty-tv-power-supplies/

This settlement covers any listed unit for 18months starting Mar 2 2012.

Good day!!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

I am having problems with my Samsung lcd tv. Whe i try to switch it on I have a clicking sound and the red led power light flashes the the tv goes off. Can you give me an answer to resolve this problem

Your problem is typical of Samsung LCD TVs. The capacitors on one of the internal boards are rated at 10V and should be higher. If you open the case, you'll see bulging capacitors. If you can handle a screwdriver and soldering iron, you can actually fix it yourself with a few capacitors from an electrical supply store. Simply read the specs off the bulging capacitors and get a higher voltage-rated replacement. For exmaple, if the capacitors say "1000uf 10V 105C", you would replace them with "1000uf 35V 105C" or similar rating. Or an easier method: Recently, Samsung themselves have been making repairs as it is such a widespread problem. Call Samsung at 1-800-726-7864 and they may just repair it for free, even if its not under warranty.

When i turn my samsung tv on no picture comes up or any sound other than a clicking sound from the back of it somewhere near the top left of the tv,. could this be the capacitors?

No
The clicking is the power relays coming on.
Do you get a flashing power light on front ?
you will need to have it serviced.

Samsung 46" pink dots

I had a problem with the TV going on and off several times before "warming up" and then having pink dots. I would have to reboot to get rid of the dots. I called 1-800-SAMSUNG and reported that I had problems with the capacitors. That is what was causing the problems - cheap capacitors and Samsung is aware that this has caused many TV's to malfunction. My set was not under warranty but Samsung sent a technician across two state lines to fix my TV. As long as the problem is the capacitors Samsung will cover this service call 100%. My TV is fine now. BTW - capacitors which are sold in Radio Shack are not expensive. Why Samsung chose to put the cheapest Korean capacitors in their expensive TVs is a mystery.
So if your TV need warming up and has pink dots on the screen - call 1-800 -SAMSUNG and tell them your capacitors are malfunctioning.

Samsung LN26A450 LN26A450C1DXZA won't turn on

I had the same problem with my Samsung LN26A450 LCD TV. I found the following YouTube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mm51C_RDIZE titled "Samsung TV Repair - Part 1 of 2) (also watch Part 2 of 2) which shows how to easily fix the problem. The problem is bad capacitors on the power supply board. My TV had seven (7) bad capacitors - all 7 had dark stains on the ends from leaking electrolytic fluid and one (10V 2200MFD) was blown with bulging ends. I ordered 7 new high-temp (105 degrees C) aluminum radial capacitors from DigiKey.com matching the Temperature, Capacitances and Voltage Ratings for each damaged capacitor that I removed. I followed the instructions in the video except I used desoldering braid ($3.99 at RadioShack) to remove the solder attaching the bad capacitor leads to the power supply board. Once you wick up the old solder from all sides of each lead wire using the desoldering braid, the bad capacitors are easily removed. Total cost of repair including soldering equipment was less than $50. Thanks to “The Professor” for posting the video and saving me $400.
