Try blowing trash out of the unit attached to the steering wheel.Sometimes, this'll eliminate the issue. If not,U may have to replace the unit.

In the fuse box driver side. If you pull out the panel covering the fuse box there is a decal inside behind the cover that should tell you what it fuse section does. There are ACC 1 and another section ACC 2. Or you can simply just pull out the fuses one at a time and see which one is burnt. If it burns out again, then you have a short. The fuses are clearly marked in the box to what they belong to. Example: Cig Lt (Cigarette Lighter) HD Lmp (Head Lamps) Etc.
You also need to check near the positive terminal of the battery the fuse links that are there. Perhaps the one that feeds the accessories portion is burnt. How do you know is burnt. Two orange ones, three green ones and one is black or grey. If is burnt, it will feel rubbery like or clearly show the burn by a black coloring or greyish coloring if its the black one. You can check them with a volt ohm meter for continuity from one end to the other. If you don't have a continuity reading the link is bad and needs to be replaced.n I eliminated all my fuse links and replaced them with fuse holder adapters where I can just change the fuse 10 amps or 15 amps depending on the circuit, but those only go if someone is messing with the circuit and accidentally shorts the circuit. Good Luck!

If the cruise lamp comes on and the cruise does not set i would advise inspecting the cruise cable and make certain it is not broken, if ok the the servo has likely failed.

SOURCE: the cruise control disengages by
Here a picture of the 2002 Dodge Intrepid cruise control unit.
I recommend you to clean it with PB Blaster spray /clean before starting trouble-shooting.
Use small amount to wipe the cable and connector of the unit.
Make use the long cable is route correctly.
SEE the cable pathway for plastic ties and clips.
The last owner or service test may work on this area and forget to re-fasten the cable,
Look for damage on the cable and connector.
Check the accelerator linkage and cable for free play.
Check for free play around the throttle position sensor (TPS).
Check for missing ties / clips on the cruise control system.
DO NOT rule out a worn actuator (round unit) on cruise control system.
Please keep me posted on the fix via email.
