SOURCE: Netgear JGS524 appears to be dead...

This is an un-mamaged switch, so it is very difficult to get any kind of diagnostic information out of it. Some times, this may mean that the switch is on and active, but at those times, there is some times a mode button to switch through the different types of indicators on the switch. This switch doesn't even have that. There is almost no documentation on this device. The only thing I could find was this install guide, and it doesn't mention anything about the lights indicating some type of diagnostic code. If you connect two machines to the switch, and both these machines have Static IP addresses (do not use DHCP), can they ping each other? If the can, then I say the switch is fine and its just a cosmetic problem. If they cannot, then I am afraid you will have to return this one as well.

SOURCE: Netgear JGS524 switch Power is

I suggest that you factory default the switch in case some security settings or Vlan's/STP have been enabled. Turn off Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) if yiu can access the switch. Check that you ahve no loops in the cabling.

WHY POWER LIGHT STAYS AMBER AFTER POWER PLUG IN

This can result after a power failure. Unplug it for 30 minutes or more and plug back in. If it still stays amber, it may be damaged a.k.a. "bricked"

Have a look here to see how you might be able to un-brick it.

Does a netgear jgs524 support vlans?

The JGS is an unmanaged switch. It has no settings to configure or reset. When it receives a packet, it might preserve its VLAN tag when forwarding it, but there is no way to configure it to notice or handle VLANs in any particular way.

When i plug it in with out anything plugged into it it automatically starts blinking select green lights is there anything i can do to fix this?

The all lights will starts blinking everytime the switch is powered ON.
This is normal process as the switch is checking the status of all its ports during startup.

Please wait for 5-10 minutes this activity will completed and the port lights will not blink if nothing is connected.

If it still blinks without anything connected to the ports then you need to ask the vendor for a replacement.

How do I resolve my internet port light being amber on my wgr614v7 netgear router

Recommend that you go one step at a time.

1) unplug the wireless router.
2) reset your Cable modem or DSL modem. Wait until the lights show the Wide area network or WAN is working correctly before applying power to the Netgear wireless router.

3) After a minute or so, its signals should change from amber to bright green.

Repeat if necessary. If this doesn't provide the connectivity that you need, a call to your Internet Service provider may be necessary.

ALERT LED light - Blinking Amber - Nothing prints, printer not recognized

The blinking amber light means there is a hardware problem. Got that from Netgear's website because we have a similar problem here. I don't know if it means hardware problem in the print server or in the printer. We put the print server on a UPS Uninterruptible Power Supply and that problem seems to be gone. We are in an old factory and the wiring is not so reliable. Maybe you could try this same fix.
