SOURCE: Speaker connectors not holding

I use to have that problem and what i did was to strip more wire. Then fold the bare wire over a few times and try poking it in there. Maybe you can wrap some foil around the wires also. Must be foil with metal on both sides, not a ciggerette pack. You may also try a pencil eraser. Cut it in the shape of a wedge and try and push it into where the springs are this could work similar to the spring.

Can I use a JX-S900 Y/C separated I/O to run two subwoofers out of same reciever??

Yes, on two conditions:

1) the JX-S900 needs to be a proper matrix switcher. It has to have the ability to route 1 input to more than one output.

2) the sub signals need to be low level RCA/phono, and not high level speaker wire connections. That's not just about the type of connector. It's about the signal going through those wires. A low level RCA/phono sub connection conducts a maximum 0.7 Volt. A speaker wire connection can transmit 30 Volts! If you put 30 Volts in to a line level switching device such as the JX0S900 you'll fry it.

Provided that the above two criteriia are both met, then yes it will work.

  • Connect the AV receiver's sub out to Source 1 - white RCA phono.

  • Connect the two subs mono LFE Left input (white RCA) or the single black RCA/phono inputs to the JVC's outputs 1 and 2 - white RCA/phono.

  • Set the source routing: input 1 goes to output 1 and 2

Old speakers with wire connectors

You can buy connecting cables that have wire leads on one end and RCA plugs on the other. That's the only converter you need

How do i connect my reciver to my lcd hdtv so the audio is coming from my speakers not the tv speakers.

kindly get four audio RF connection wires look for the audio output on the front or back of your tv. one of the output connection is white the other is red.look for the same connectors on your reciever the same colour.but they are marked input.plug the output wires from your tv to the input connection of your reciever.if you have separate speakers, connect the speaker wires from the output connectors of your reciever so you can get sound comming from your tv through your reciever, good luck.

Can I hook these directly to my TV

No. The jacks on the back of your tv are line level. That means no power. To get the power, you need a reciever. Red and white RCA wires will go from your tv's out and the other end to an input on your reciever, and your speaker will be wired to the speaker out jacks on your reciever.

I have a subwoofer with standard speaker wire connection, how to I attach to a receiver with a subwoofer cable?

The Subwoofer is Likely Passive....meaning no amplifier is within the enclosure itself....the incompatible connectors mean you cannot connect the subwoofer itself to your surround sound system.

look for a Suitable stand-alone (1 Channel) Amplifer with sufficent power.....connect the RCA Imputs (subwoofer cable) to the Recievers RCA subwoofer output....then connect the amplifier's output to the the wire going into the subwoofer enclosure....if there is a plastic connector simply cut it off and strip the wires down a sufficent lenght....then secure the wires to the output of the amplifier.

if you do this make sure you know the ohm rating of the subwoofer and the minimum ohm rating of the amplifier your using.

Please Help ....i have Bose Acoustimass 10, 5.1 system connected

Usually the LFE out is only a line out and is not amplified in any way, so first of all is your subwoofer self amplified or not? Cause if not, the LFE output won't be of much use to you. So if it's not self amplified you need an new amplifier to put between the receiver and the subwoofer. Any amp that supports RCA line-in input will do. Even a car stereo amplifier will work provided you can get a 12volt power supply to run it in the house. If the subwoofer is self amplified though, then all you need is to make an adapter cause none are readily available in stores to go from a RCA connector to 2 wires. You can buy a virgin RCA connector that you can wire yourself at The Source, Circuit City, or any electronics store you have locally, or if you have an old RCA to RCA wire you don't need anymore, you can just cut it in half, strip the 2 wires and you got you adapter right there.

How to connect unpowered subwoofer to receiver with RCA sub out?

In order for this to work, you will need an external amplifier. Your receiver is set up to use a "powered" sub. With only speaker connections on the sub, it is a "passive" sub requiring a separate amp.

either cut an rca cable and splice it to the speaker wires (not easy because the rca cable is coax type or buy rca ends from radio shack and do a little soldering
