Open Question

Water pump will not turn off

Jabsco v-flo 5gpm pump will not turn off. Starts fast and slows to a slow pump. Rep at Seattle Boat Show thought it was defective. There are no leaks in system and only one faucet at this time.

SOURCE: Have a Jabsco Self-Priming Macerator

Try removing the plastic cover, from the motor and turning the shaft that extends out the back of the motor. I used pliers and the macerator is working, now. My problem was that a pebble had jammed the impeller. Turning the shaft freed the pebble from the impeller.

Jabsco toilet fails to fill

Was the toilet "Winterized" last fall? If so, have you assured that any plug in the clean water intake has been removed? If NOT -- are you sure the pump has not been frozen and internally damaged by ice? The pump is a simple device which rarely fail unless its inlet is blocked, or the pump seals or body are damaged - usually by freezing.

I would imagine it might have something to do with water turbulance? Do you have a sensor thats located at the bottom of the boat somewhere? In my grandpas boat, the sensor is at the rear bottom near the hole where you can drain the water, if your going very fast it doesnt work very well, slow or stopped and it works fine. If you have that type of sensor make sure whatever holds it is tight so the sensor cant move around.

either that or you got some funky wiring issue lol

I have a 1 hp power flo matrix. When I run the pump without water on a bench it runs fine. I put the hoses back on and run it, it starts slow never kicks into full power and trips the braker. Any thoughts?

It sounds like something is causing the motor to not only have limited torque but also draw more than normal current. It sounds like a problem in the motor but exploratory surgery would indicate the cause for sure.

If you are not wanting to turn wrenches yourself then my best suggestion is to bring it to Leslies Pool Supplies and they often can put it right for the price of the parts while you watch.

I hope this helps.
