How do you clean the laser please

You will probably have to disassemble the changer to access the laser lens. You can clean the lens with q-tips and rubbing alcohol. Be sure to be very gentle or you can scratch the lens which will ruin the lens.

If your dvd/cd/disc player is skipping

If your DVD player, cd player or any console or unit that uses a compact disc begins to skip intermittently, please before wasting money on a disc cleaner or any sort of solution, try to clean the laser eye manually.
To do so, remove the cover of the device that’s you wish to clean, once you have done that, you may be able to locate the laser eye without any more dies-assembly, if not, dies-assemble the laser eye housing or what ever it is that’s restricting access, please make sure to note, either with a diagram or marking with a coloured marker what screw came from where and how to re-assemble the unit.
Once you have done that, simply clean the laser with a soft clean cue tip or a cotton bud, the style used to clean ears with. After wiping , check with a magnifying glass for any traces of dirt or grime.
Once satisfied with its appearance, put it all back together and if the discs now play easily and no skips are found, the problem was a dirty laser lens. Good Luck.

I need to clean my cyberhome dvd 300 i have taken out screws but cannot open. also once i get open what exactly do i clean or what does the laser eye look like. will it be obvious

The laser lens or 'eye' will be near to the centre of the disc tray - but not dead centre. You will see it if it sits on a block (with the spindle motor nearby). Obviously the tray will be just above the lens. It is the only 'eye' in the whole unit.

Just keep in mind how your player is assembled prior to removing any covers to clean the lens.

Hopefully you will be able to clean this carefully and easily. I recommend that you gently clean the disc tray as well. There should already be a tip on FixYa about cleaning DVD drives and laser lenses.

Generally, I don't recommend that users disassemble DVD players to clean them. This should really be done by a skilled workshop technician with access to proper facilities and equipment.

In any case, if you know how the unit is put together before you go further, you should have no problem re-assembling it once clean, and it should work fine. Costs you nothing to try it but be warned about the potential risks involved; and do not attempt any service or look at the laser while the unit is plugged in.

I am not sure why you proceeded to take the player apart - is there a second problem with it that you haven't mentioned?

My playstation 2 wont read my discs .. And i need help because im new at this

laser lens might be dirty.
if you have easy access to laser lens, use a q-tip dipped (not dripping) in rubbing alcohol to clean laser lens. use other end of q-tip to dry lens.
or you could use a laser lens cleaner for video game systems.
hope this helps :D

LG797T. Used to play DVDs but now we can't use the DVD player to watch movies because we get "Unknown disc, please try again." when it tries to read the disc. Can this be fixed at home (and how) or do I...

The problem with your unit is either a faulty laser or it could also be a faulty mpeg printed circuit board.
The way i would go about solving this issue if the unit is not under warranty is first try to clean the laser.
You can do this removing the case from the unit and if the laser is accessable, use a cue-tip or soft, clean cotton bud to gently wipe the 'eye' of the laser. Make sure to use clean and soft Cotton tips as you do not want to scratch the laser and cause further damage.
After you have done this you can test the unit without replacing the outer case, his will also give you a chance to see if the laser is lighting up to bright, concentrated red dot.
If this isnt happening you need to replace the laser. Nearly every LG product i have dealt with has a yellow or white sticker with a part number on it to make ordering another easy.
If it does not have locatable part number, refer to your local authorised repair agent as they will be able to either repair the unit for you or be able to source and obtain a 'DVD Deck Assembly', which is the entire setup that contains the laser, the drawer that the disc sitson as well as the spindle motors.
Replacing the DVD Deck Assembly is as straight foward as marking everthing you remove with a coloured marker, so you know where it ame from and being careful with any flat ribbon cables you may need to remove near or attached the laser
Good luck!

My ps3 won't read my games but reads my dvds

The Blu-Ray laser might need to be cleaned. Use a laser cleaning disc to clean it. Also, make sure the disc are clean and scratch-free. If this all fails, you might need to get the PS3 repaired.

Problem with PS2 SCPH 75001

You will need a Magnifying glass, Flashlight, Toothpick, and Paper towels.

What you need to do is access your laser, and make sure the laser optics are clean. Using the magnifying glass and flashlight, inspect the lens for dust, smudges and lint. Using a Toothpick with a small piece of paper towel swab the lens to clean it. If you need a Cleaning solution, use Windex. If this does not solve the problem, Get a new KHS-400C laser from Ebay. When the new laser arrives, you will need to remove solder blobs from the ribbon circuit strip on the bottom of the laser. These are two small solder blobs near the Ribbon cable connector. I do this with soldering iron, Vise ( to hold the laser), and Solder wick.
