Re: Samsung HDTV

Good fix, but I have another problem. I can't adjust my blue lines and I can only adjust the vertical green lines. Is this an adjustment in the TV or do I have a bad convergence card?

Re: Samsung HDTV

Thank you Thunder!
You made my day.
I have been fretting over the blue and red ghosts for quite some time, had been considering returning the set to the repair shop that I had to take it to after it went haywire like all the others. The shop did a poor job of converging after the repair and I didn't take it back, just lived with it, until now. I just finished going through the process of aligning the grid and looks great.
Merry Christmas to you too.
I do have one question, now the self focus does not want to work, it comes up with a message "check data" or something like that up in the left hand corner. Any suggestions?

Re: Samsung HDTV

Turn on the set, let it warm up for 1 hour. Put the cable box or satelite on a 1080i channel so it's on the screen. Press Mute, 1, 8,3 on the remote you'll get the grid.

Red Select is 7 (on the remote)
Green Select is 8
Blue Select is 9

Red Mute is +100 key on the remote
Green Mute is 0 (zero) key on the remote
Blue Mute is PRE-CH key on the remote
Note: these are toggles on and off

Cancel Key is 3 on the remote ( to cancel all changes you've made)
Use the Directional Buttons around the ENTER button to move to another line or segment.

Channel up and down buttons move the lines up and down.
Volume up and down moves the lines left and right.

The goal is to put all of the red, green and blue lines on top of each other to make the grid white.

Save your new settings by pressing Add/Del key found in the slide cover at the bottom of the remote.

Exit convergance by pressing S.MODE button on the remote.

I hope this helps. I'll check back to see if you have any further questions.
Merry Christmas!

Picture in picture operation & connection to dvd player

Now--first--connect the DVR cable box HDMI output to the HDTV HDMI input (use the lowest numbered one e.g. HDMI 1) for this connection. Use a standard (not Monster brand) HDMI cable for this connection. Then turn on the TV, turn on the cable box and switch the TV to the HDMI input. A picture should come on. You may even hear the audio on the TV speakers. If so, that is OK.

Then--connect the component video output of the DVD HT to the TV component 1 input. Use a three wire component video cable with red, blue and green connectors on each end. Connect color to color on both ends. Then turn on the DVD, put a DVD in the player and start it running. Switch the TV to the component input and it should show a pix. The audio will come from the DVD player speakers.

If your DVD player does have an HDMI output, you can use it and just connect as above to the second TV HDMI input.

To get audio from the cable box out of the DVD player speakers, you will need to connect an audio cable from the cable box go the HT amplifier. Use a set of RCA patch cables and go from the analog audio output of the cable box to the rear panel audio inputs of the DVD player. The owners manual for this unit will give directions on using this input. Since your HT unit does not have any other inputs, you will not be able to get Dolby Digital audio.

Hope this gives you food for thought. If so, and you have more questions, just come back in with a follow up.

Good luck. Remember, the owners manuals all have hook up connections diagrams. Sometimes they will help.

Dont forget to rate me as fixya..
