Question about Cub Cadet Model 7234 Parts Svc Owners Manuals Cdrom

Open Question

I have a cub cadet 7234 tractor, i replaced the alternator and battery, upon reconneting the cables smoke came out of the starter wires and fried it, so i replaced the starter, now i still have no pow

I pulled the tractor into the shop and noticed the alternator wasnt charging and the battery was dead, so i replaced both, when i hookd the battery cables back up a bunch of smoke came out of the back of the alternator and starter, after that nothing happens when i turned the key, so naturally i assumed it was the starter, so i replaced it, still, nothing happens when i turn the key, i did notice however that the red battery cable appears to be the ground wire since it just bolts to the frame while the black wire goes straight to the starter and wiring harness, when i put the batter in i did put red to positive and black to negative, which by what i see is backwards, i'm not sure if that could cause a problem here or not but please help me!

There is a wire shorted to ground (metal) somewhere...check all the wiring for a bare spot somewhere... this is causing the short...repalce the wire and you will be good...
finding the bad spot is the hard part...

SOURCE: starter generator turns over slow with new full

With the battery going dead on its own like that, I think you have a short circuit somewhere that is causing this problem. This could be anywhere in your wiring system so check everything out. Hope this is helpful to you. Best regards and good luck.

SOURCE: I have a series model 1018 cub cadet with electric

If you have access to an electric voltmeter, with it running check voltage at the battery. The engine should charge the battery and maintain system voltage so that the electic PTO will function. The electic PTO will not pull in if system voltage is too low.

Where are fuses located on Cub Cadet Lawn mower?

I have a Cub Riding Mower as shown dc55747e-a406-427c-8262-8b6e701cca5e.jpg

Open up the cowling and the fuse is located to the right of the battery. It is a european style (flat) fuse as shown:

The yellow fuse shown below is the only one on mine.

I have had this Cub for years and have never replaced this fuse.
Depending upon how old the mower is you may want to:
1. Check the condition of the battery. I keep mine on a trikle charge over the winter. The battery may need replacing. Using a voltmeter to check battery voltage.
2. Check the battery cables to ensure that are secure and not corroded.
3. You may want to check the starter and ensure good conntion.
4. In general check all electrical wire connections.
Anything else I can help with please advise.

Cub Cadet LT1050-Replaced the solenoid, had starter checked out-it's good, battery has full charge, but mower won't start. Help!!

You need to check that there is a 12volt supply from the low tention wire at the solinoid when the key is turned, if there is not either the switch is bad, or the wire from the switch is bad, or the fuse has blown.

Hi camy wils815...
Sounds like you have a faulty solinoid.
Make sure your battery has a full charge, the by-pass the starter solinoid on the engine.
To do this ground one big wire connection to one of the small wire connectors (with the wires still hooked up) and if it starts, then replace the solinoid...if it does nothing, replace the solinoid.
Please take time to rate me

I have a cub cadet 7234, shut it off last night now it wont do anything. Everything is in neutral but it won't crank.

Take a jumper cable and attach one end of the red set ends to the positive post on the battery after making sure the battery is fully charged, take the other end of the red cable and attach it to the bolt with the usually red wire on the starter. Take the blackset and attach one end to the negative post on the battery and touch the other black end to the starter hpousing and see if the starter engages, if it does not then you can assume that the starter has died. If on the other hand the starter spins over then either the starter switch or one of the safty switches on the cub cadet has failed. You can test all the switches by removing the wires going to them and using a small piece of wire bypass the connections untill you find the one that is defective, replace that one and you should be back in bussiness. Hope This Helps Don
