Can I connect a goodman soundbar to my samsung smart tv

Here are steps to connect a Samsung soundbar to a Sanyo FVM3982 TV using an optical cable:

Usually soundbars only have input, meaning that only takes the sound in, never out. If you have an audio output from the TV, you c an always try, but the soundbar won't be use then.

Because your TV is not Bluetooth-enabled and you are trying to connect it to a Bluetooth-enabled soundbar via Bluetooth. There are other ways to connect your TV to the soundbar:

1. analog AUDIO OUT (L/R) of your TV to the AUX IN on the soundbar (use a 3.5 mm.-to-RCA audio cable).
2. Optical OUT on your TV to Optical IN on the soundbar.
3. HDMI port to HDMI port (this may not work if your TV is not ARC compliant you have to try).

You get better sound quality with option 2.or 3. (if this one works for your TV)

There is probably a sound setup menu on the TV. It needs to be switched to the soundbar. :-)

The cheapest way of connecting your flat screen and soundbar is to use the TV's headphone jack. It's not the best quality, but a lead will cost a couple of Pounds/Dollars and it will do unless you want the sound really loud.

If you want the best quality then the answer is to use the TV's Optical output. This sends a signal in digital form as a series of light pulses. This isn't directly compatible with the stereo input of a sound bar. There's no kind of cable or plug adapter you can buy that converts this just through a piece of wire. So you would buy an Optical to Stereo phono/RCA converter that can translate light pulses into a stereo signal. Here's a link to one from Amazon. It is less than 10 Pounds Sterling..

To the best of my understanding an Aux port is usually an input port. So you might be sticking the sound bar terminals into the wrong connector in TV. The audio signal from the TV is meant to go into the Aux In port of the sound bar. Usually this will mean a pair of RCA cables (white and red) from TV out to Aux In. If you have done the right things then maybe check if soundbar is not in mute. Try some other source as well. Like connecting an iPhone or ipod stereo out to the Line In port in soundbar and selecting LineIn mode.

easiest way would be to connect the optical audio output from the tv to the optical input on the soundbar. You may have to go into the tv's setup menu and enable the audio output jack
