You probably have either a shorted high-voltage capacitor, or a shorted high-voltage transformer. And there is a 3rd possibility that should be checked first - the so-called "monitor switch" may be stuck in the closed position. There are usually 3 door switches in most microwave ovens, although some have 4. The monitor switch is usually the the one located in the middle of the door latch area.
There is actually a "kit" that replaces the hinge, housing for the hinge, dispenser door and bracket. Just be sure when you're taking everything apart you pay special attention to how it goes back together. Kit comes with metal bracket that will replace old housing. First check the breaker. You may have one leg out. Then check the starter switch. Also check the door switch. It could be broken or mislodged. When it is fully engaged, it will start up. Lastly the motor could be burned out. If it is an older model, then consider a new one. However, the repair on this is not that high if you can do it yourself.

The control board is bad. You will have to replace it. You might aslo theck the fuse, sometimes they look a little different than you are used to. Refer to your owners manual and wiring diagram to find it. You can also find more info on the Whirlpool website. Whirlpool makes Kenmore.
yes, a DIY person can replace a thermal cutoff. just open the rear of the unit and look for parts with big red wires connected to it. it is round, one small and one big. both have two terminal clips. if you can find the schematics inside the switch panel, then it would help you further. the thermal cutoff consist of two pc. replace both even one of them has continuity.
