Question about Aiwa HV-MX1 VHS VCR

Open Question

Aiwa HV-MX1SHR no FF, no REW, playback OK

I have Aiwa HV-MX1SHR and it has the same problem jessie25 had. I tried to apply Asimov's remedy, but I can not find the mode switch. Is it an electrical or mechanical switch? Under the mode buttons are tiny switches and a ribbon cable goes to the main PCB. Where is the mode switch and what does it look like?

If you are asking 'why ' does this VCR have 2 speeds, it is to help you locate a certain portion of the movie fast. If you are asking 'Does' this VCR have 2 speeds, the answer is YES.

On an AIWA HV-MX100, black and white picture OK but why not color?

If the remote works then it works. You might be missing a few functions but I can't imagine that it's capable of switching to B&W. I might be wrong but I think that the TV needs checking.

Toshiba VCR. It records OK but playback is black, white shaky

What do you mean by "records OK"? It sounds to me like you are not getting a signal to record. I had this problem before, as well. There are two things I recommend you try. The first is that (if you are trying to record over-the-air tv, you will need a digital television converter box connected directly to the vcr. If you already have one and are sure that it is connected correctly, you may also try an RF modulator. When I got my new vcr, it wouldn't work at first. I eventually found out that I would need an RF modulator in order for it to work on my tv. I hope these suggestions help. Good luck! Sincerely, Der Strom

Sony SLV-N71 VCR makes a rattling sound (ff, rew)

I make no claim to being any kind of an expert techie but it sounds to me like there are one or more loose or badly worn parts inside your machine. If you haven't had a look at the innards, try that. Loose things can usually be re-secured and, sometimes, worn parts can be replaced.

Aiwa HV-MX100 multiformat VCR won't power on...

Too little information to give any information / help / opinion. What actually happens? Does the Display come on properly? Do you hear any mechanical Noises? Like a motor whirring? Are you able to load a cassette into the machine? Does it get ejected automatically? As you say that the machine switches ON, I assume tyhat the Power supply cicuits are Ok, and this leaves us with the possibility that there is a mechanical problem. Is it that the machine was not used for a long operiod of months or years? If that is the case, in all probability the belts are damaged / broken / loose. I really need more info, please.
