SOURCE: I have a 17" Dell

Try the monitors connections first, then try the monitor on some other computer (try the other cables as well).

If the connections fix the problem - all OK.
If it works on some other computer - then it is not the monitor, more likely the video card. If this is the case - replace the video card.

If the monitor still does not work on another computer, then send it in for inspection and repair (is it still in Warranty?) or purchase a new one (expensive).

By the way, I don't know what you expect to do once you get inside the monitor (unless you are an Electronics Engineer by Trade which I doubt from your question).

Good luck, and please post a response so I can see if anything worked.

I Have A Dell e173fpc Monitor And When I plug It In The Light Turns Green Then Orange Then Shuts Off Over And Over Again What Could It Be And How Do I Fix It?

Try it another PC first, otherwise it can be fail components such as caps, transistors, cold solder joints, etc.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Check the fuse, transistors, solder joints (use magnifier), caps. Or replace the board if the lamps are good after testing.

Dell e173fpc Display Issue

Check if the cable connected to your monitor and video card is fix and secure.. Check also if the video card is properly seated in the motherboard.... Try to check using other computer if the video card is working..

If the test is all ok.. then the last option will be to check the backlight inverter of your monitor....To do this, you need to bring the monitor to a credible technician to have it replace..

much appreciated if you could rate this help..thanks..

Dell E173FPc monitor. Screen is black, power button color cycles

Hi,
First, verify the monitor is functional.
Monitor STFC (Self Test Feature Check)
Turn off the monitor
Plug the monitor power cord directly into the wall socket to remove any
surge protectors or APCs from the troubleshooting equation
Unplug the monitor video cable from the back of the computer
Turn on the monitor
The floating dialog box should appear on screen against a black background.
If the issue appears during the STFC, the monitor is defective.
What are the results please?
