I have a Bose Wave Radio/CD player and the transformer inside does not work. Where can I get this spare part for it please/

First of all make sure that the thermal fuse is intact or is blown , if so you can short connect and use if it works.
If not the transformer must be sourced from Bose unless you can get this rewound at a rewinding center.

Following a direct lightning strike to our pole transformer, transformer blown ,, replaced ,, several electronics not working including our Bose Wave Radio (no CD) ... Where can we find repair and how much...

Bose does not release their schematic diagrams or parts lists, so factory maintenance is about the only way to go. You can start the process by visiting, but be ready for some sticker shock. Before you do anything though, every Bose has a line fuse inside the case. The location varies by model and date of manufacture, but if you open the case it will be simple to locate. Check it, and replace it if necessary. The fuse is there to safeguard electronics against power surges, so it is your likely culprit.

My Bose Wave Radio/CD Just died with no warning or malfunctions prior, acting like it's not getting any power

Your problem may be as simple as a blown power fuse. Location varies by model, but all of these sets have an internal fuse on one of the circuit boards. SAFETY NOTE: It's obvious to most, but be sure to disconnect the set from power before opening the case.

My Bose wave radio suddenly is dead as a doornail. It showed no signs of malfunction, just won't work now.

Perhaps it is just a fuse blown. There is one small fuse inside the unit. If the fuse is OK, then the next step might the transformer. If the transformer is OK, then it might be the Bridge rectifier IC GBU series

There's a line fuse on a circuit board inside the radio. CAUTION: disconnect the set from its power source before you open it up or start poking around inside it. If you're lucky, all you will need is a simple fuse replacement. The sets are, however, notorious for "blowing" power transformers. If the fuse is not the problem, you will likely need to send the set to Bose for repair. On their web site,, they offer to repair most Wave sets for $100 or give $200 credit towards the purchase of a new Wave. Before you spend the big bucks though, you might want to check out the new HD radios. Better sound and MUCH lower prices than the Bose.

Replace fuse Bose Wave Radio

For the AWR1-1W turn it over and there are 4 screws that you must remove. When your looking at the circuit board the fuse is just below the power supply and back of radio. If the radio makes a ‘POP’ sound when you unplug it may not be the fuse as power is getting past the fuse. I have the same trouble with mine. I called BOSE Tech and he said if it makes that ‘POP’ sound after unplugging it is not fuse or power supply. They will not even allow me to send it in for repairs as the radio is over 15 years old and considered unserviceable.

Maybe someone else can give us a quick fix.
