it sounds that the filter is badly clogged up , remove clean the filter and look to see that the pump impeller are not seized ( note you will see the pump blades with an aid of a torch once the filter is removed )

your lid switch is not working or may be jammed try opening the top of the back of the washer make sure the lid switch is working im not sure if the mtw range uses switch or magnetic recognision with switch there is a small lid switch that clicks when the lid is slightly lifted with magnetic it makes no noise however they can both be bypassed by cutting the switch wires normaly black and red running along the right side of the control board (making sure power plug is not plugged in) stripping the two wires and joing them together

The shock absorbers that hold the tank are broken. Then the load will move the washer all over the place.
Look online for an exploded diagram and order the new shocks for it

Could be broken suspesion leg or spring securing the drum

u may have a loose spring

Honestly, I would either call Maytag once you get the estimate and see if they will do anything for you (ie-cover the cost of the parts and/or labor) even though it is out of warranty. This is costly repair, and that machine was not Maytag's best. When Maytag took over Amana, they built the SAV series on the old Amana platform, and unfortuately it was not able to live up to the Maytag "Old Dependable" name. The new Maytags, however, which are built on the Whirlpool platform, are very dependable and we have had very few issues with the models starting in "MTW...", and we own a Maytag Home Appliance Center so we deal with these issues on a daily basis.
