Last week I put the dishwasher through a cycle and had water all over the floor in front of the dishwasher. My husband pulled the dishwasher out and found the water to the pump had come loose. He reconnected it and put a new hose clamp on. I sent it through a cycle and had no water on the floor but now CodeF4e1 is appearing on screen saying that I need to contact customer service. I unplugged it for 1 hr and when I plugged it back in the code was still there. Help. Dishwasher is not even a year old.

If you have either dry bearings in the motor or sticky grease buildup in the pump bearing/seal, it can cause the motor to stick rather than rotate on startup. More likely to be greasy crud buildup. The best you can do without disassembling the entire unit is to circulate a good degreaser product in a wash cycle, such as 409 or PurplePower. On the off chance (very small chance) it would degrade plastic parts, only run degreaser wash cycle for 5 minutes or so before draining it and running rinse cycle.

Read the installation instructions and make SURE that you have removed all of the packing material from inside and around the door. If you had the bottom apron off to hook it up, some insulation may have poked up into where the bottom of the door seals. Inspect the area that the door seals really carefully - you often can't see the bottom of the bachine side, due to how the door bottom catches drips, but if there's something that is sticking up into the lip when the door closes, that can give you problems. If you can take the bottom skirt off and run the machine, you may be able to see where the problem is coming from. Good Luck! Jim

Step1
Inspect the door gasket. As it ages, the gasket can crack or become hard, preventing it from sealing completely.
Step
2
If the gasket appears solid, adjust the door latch so the door seals tightly. Loosen the screw that holds the door latch to the cabinet. Push the latch in slightly and retighten the screw. Test the door and readjust the latch if necessary.
Step
3
Replace the gasket if water continues to leak after you've tightened the latch. Most gaskets are held by compression in a groove on the door or on the dishwasher cabinet.
Step
4
Pull the old gasket out of its groove, using adjustable pliers (see illustration). Take the gasket to an appliance store to get a replacement.
Step
5
Soak the new gasket in warm water to soften it, then press it into the groove. Start at the top, then work your way down the sides and across the bottom.
