Question about RCA DRC8300N DVD Recorder/VCR
We had a disc get stuck--we turned the power off and on--nothing--then unplugged the AC cord--thought we had it because theDVD started playing but then the words INTERFACE ERROR--Turn off power came up. We still could not remove the disc before this message appeared--went to the troubleshooting part of the manual--where the player locks up (which it did do after teh interface message) and it told us to go to the general menu to reset the DVD/VCR and highlight and select USER DEFAULT ....there was no such selection there. What now???

Subject: RE: DVD stopped playing
Let the unit sit with the AC power cord out of the wall for a couple of hours. Then hit the power button 10-15 times (with the AC power cord still out of the wall socket!) and then try again. If you continue to have problems unfortunately it sounds as though it is within the electrical assembly. It is hard to say exactly what caused it or exactly what the problem with the circuits are.

SOURCE: rca dvd\vcr locked on hello
The hello issue is most likely a faulty DVD-RW. These go out on thse models more than usual. Reset is a combination of 2 buttons. Press and hold the play and disk tray open or the power and play ( i forgot the exact sequence but you get my drift, press 2 buttons for about 10 seconds). You can also update the firmware...or atleast could before from RCA.COM but they no longer support this midel. I do have the software update on CD but it won't do any good on Hello issue. If worst comes to worst, open the player up and replace the DVD-RW drive.

Faulty power-supply symptoms:
The front panel display and buttons are completely nonfunctional and appear dead. The unit will do nothing more than display the following messages on the TV screen:
Interface error! Turn off the power
If a DVD or VHS tape was inserted prior to the error occurring, you won't be able to eject either from that point further. They'll remain stuck inside the unit until you've completed the repair detailed below.
Interface error! Turn off the power <--- explains how to completely restore your combo in less than 20minutes by replacing a $1.59 part on the power-supply board. firstname.lastname@example.org
