SOURCE: Dryer door won't stay closed

hi,

shut off the breaker- pull the female receptacle clasp out of the front with flat screwdriver and needle nose and squeeze the back of it gently with pliers, replace, if its busted and you get mad, you can buy a standard padlock and latch and install that, that helps in other ways as well, careful to steer clear and watch the inner wall for wires and clearances if your going to retrofit that.

THE LIGHT WILL NOT COME ON WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED AND THE DRYER WILL NOT STOP WITH THE DOOR OPEN

The dryer has a switch in the door that is activated when the door is opened/closed, replace this switch or check the connector to it or the wiring.

Why does my frige motor turn on when I close the door and off when I open door?

It's designed that way for energy saving purposes. The motor shuts down when the door is open so that it's not producing more cold air to just fly out the door. Then when the door shuts, the cooling mechanism kicks back on again for business as usual.

Door will not stay shut

There has to be some sort of spring on the door latch assembly that keeps the door closed. If broken or no tension the door will not latch and spring open. And when the door springs open, a safety switch shuts the machine off.

Runs for a while than shuts off if i take the back off it doesn't shut off.

Usualy this is caused by poor airflow through your dryer. Remove the lint filter and check for a lint build-up near the bottom of your lint filter. If you see a lint build up use a vacuum crevice tool and something long like a fly swatter to loosen the lint as you vacuum. Also check the dryer vent tubing and the outside vent flapper for obstructions. What is happening is your dryer is heating up until the high temp limit protection rhermostat shuts off the heating element.

What I just mentioned is apparently not your problem. You said that your dryer runs then shuts off completely. Check to see if the motor is easily roated by hand with the belt installed. If it is difficult to rotate there is a bearing problem somewhere causing heat to build up in your motor until the thermal overload shuts off the motor. There is a drive belt idler near the motor that can also cause excessive drag on the belt if the bearing has failed. The last thing to check would be the drum rollers located in the groved area on the outside of the rear of your dryer drum. If these have stopped turning they act like a drum brake and can also cause the same symptoms. Removing the back panel allows the chassis to shift enough for the drum to ride lighter on the drum roller even though it may not be turing it is enough for the dryer drum to skid / slide on top of the stuck drum roller yet not shut off.. Hope this helps and good luck. I can help with access issues need be here.

One question I have is does your dryer door open and close properly? Some times a bad door seal or door catch can cause the same symptoms. Open and close the door and losten for a switch click as the door opens or closes not far from the closed position.

Dryer won't start; light stays on whether door is open or closed.

Sounds like the door switch is not functioning or shorted......in other words the dryer thinks the door is open so it won't turn on.

Loud metal on metal noise, and sparks in rear of dryer

I've seen sparks flying out of an appliance before!
It could be a bad motor so be careful if you plan to plug it in again!
I would leave the back cover off before trying again so as to see what's sparking!

Indesit IC70C Condensor dryer

We experienced a similar problem and corrected it by closing the drying door and then hitting "OPEN" followed by closing. Sometimes we use a tool to release the catch and then close the door. We have not seen this problem return.
