SOURCE: NSM consul 120 selection problem
Hi, I had a similar problem with my conul 120 and found an open circuit resistor R14 56K this is in the control box bottom left hand side and is about 1 inch in length dark brown in colour with coloured bands green blue orange silver. You should be able to check this with a multimeter. This resistor allows the stored pulse from the core memory to pass through at the exact time the carriage is in line with that selection. Well I think that's how it works. Worth a try. Have a look at http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/nsm_loewen_consul_120.html and you may be able to pull off the schematics.
