Dyson DC 25 wont turn on

Why does your daughter think that? While a whole house surge protector is something I can't recommend enough, it's highly unlikely that the average power surge would take out a vacuum. The usual suspects are not plugged in all the way, the filter has never been cleaned, the cord has a tweak, break or is exposed somewhere or the vacuum's fuse blew (if it was a power surge, that's where you'd want to look.

Your owner's manual should have instructions for changing the fuse, if not, take it to a certified Dyson service store and have them check the fuse for you. :)

My laptop was hit by a power surge through my modem, then i had a loud taping sound coming from my front speakers and now none of my speakers are working and my headphone jack does not work either.

the power surge probably did damage to your motherboard. if it only blew out your sound then you are lucky. most motherboards dont survive this well. since this is a laptop there isnt anything you can do about it. sorry

Electric went off then it came back on but cable box want come on

sounds to me like the box may have blew a fuse if not the circuit board try replacing the fuse if that doesn't work then I would advise just getting another box. maybe think of getting an adapter with surge protection on it cause when something like that happens you get a surge of electricity when the power comes back on and it will just blow every thing or even just turn things off when you have a power cut so when the electricity comes back on it won't create a surge

Think Power surge blew out radio. Can it be fixed?

The fix may be as simple as replacing a fuse. Location varies by model, but each has an internal fuse on one of its circuit boards. SAFETY NOTE: It may seem obvious, but be sure to disconnect power from the set before you open the case.

If the fuse is not the problem, you will need to seek professional repair. Unfortunately, Bose does not release their parts lists or schematics, effectively creating a monopoly for parts and repairs. In fact, their web site says that the Bose factory is the only option for service or repair. They used to list a flat rate repair charge on the web site, but removed it - probably because it scared too many people. Their troubleshooting guide (below) might help, but it's very simplistic.

Before you invest in expensive factory repair on one of these trouble prone sets, you might want to investigate the new HD radios -- better sound at a MUCH lower price.

Power Surge at Home

This time it came in on the cable, the clue was the cable box also blew. So if you had a cable surge supression device...for HDTV, I think you would have survived the second surge.

I do have the technology. It is a F-connector type and will handle HDTV signal.

RD-XS32 DVD power surge

Time for a replacement. In the future, get a power surge protector that protects not only your power cords, but also your cable input/outputs to your receiver and tv. They're a little pricey, but definitely worth their weight in gold!
