Question about Brother CS6000i Computerized Sewing Machine

1 Answer

Service manual I was having problems with my feed dogs, so I took apart my Brother CS6000i to clean out all the fuzz from inside, which was a lot b/c I've been working with a lot of flannel lately. Put it back together, somehow I now have two screws leftover, and my needle keeps hitting the throat plate and breaking, but only when I put on a presser foot (any foot--runs fine on multiple stitches w/o one on, weirdly). I think that b/c the screws are missing, something might be out of alignment. Need to see if anyone has a schematic or repair manual that tells me which screws go where upon reassembly, or has another explanation for why this might be happening. Thanks.

most likely the bobbin case is not aligned correctly .Insert the bobbin case so that the projection on the boobin case aligns with the spring.

SOURCE: I have a Brother CE4000. Bobbin carriage will not spin

It is a good idea to clean as you did. However, you must put the needle plate back on the machine first, then the bobbin case is inserted(more on that) then the "L" shaped gray cover. Make sure the b-case is laying level on the surface of the hook and the little bump at about 6 o'clock on the case is touching the spring at about 6 o'clock in the machine. Test a sample.

SOURCE: Presser foot problem

Turn the handwheel so the needle is at the highest position and then turn the power off and then back on.

If this does not help, you will need to take the machine in for service.

Brother CS6000i with setting 00 for straight line stitch is making a left curve stitches instead going straight.

***Your feed dog under the pressure foot seems to be pulling on one side a little harder which indicates wear. It is likely to solve the problem by replacing the feed dog.
***Before you do this try to lower the pressure on the pressure foot. If the material you are sewing is thick it will have an effect on the pull of the feed dogs. The material you are sewing that you sent appears to be jeans material. It looks like it is thick and somewhat slippery.

How do I remove needle plate?

you may have to buy some small screw drivers, either at walmart
or harbor freight,, they're called stubby's,, or off set screw drivers
that's what I use.

I dropped the feed dogs and they won't come back up.

Ignore all the other comments, they are wrong.
The feed dogs are driven by the feed driver mechanism, turn the hand-wheel forward and the feed dogs will come up. (Providing you have the feed dog switch to the up position).

I cleaned my machine, but after putting the plate back on, the feed dogs don't pull the fabric through now.

check the feed dogs to see if their up, you can see & feel them with your finger under the needle plate.
if the feed dogs are not up then somewhere in the cleaning the knob or lever got moved, go back thru what you did to find the feed dog knob,,it's always good to know where it at

Feed dogs won't raise when I switch the switch in back. How can I take off the back to see what's wrong?

Befoe you try to take it apart, the machine needs to make one or two revolutions before the feed will come up. try that and see if it works.

Feed dog & auto threader problems.

Remove the needle plate and clean the lint from between the teeth of feeddogs, also around and inside bobbin case.

The switch for the feeddogs is to raise (normal sewing) or lower (free motion) and if there is no difference, the accumulated lint will have made a felt pad between the teeth forcing the feeddogs to stay down and present with the problem you describe.

When things go a little "weird", the common instinct is OIL EVERYTHING............DON'T DO IT !!! ....this is rarely the solution on its own account, and can make the servicing a great deal longer as the excess must be removed........little oil regularly, not a bucketful every 5 years is a better approach.
