Question about Pool & Spa

1 Answer

Spa has 20amp fuse that blows whenever I either restart spa or turn on jet pump. I disconnected pump and it ran fine until I restarted the spa and fuse blew again.

It has new vertical low flow heater and circulation pump.

Something is drawing a load when it shouldnt be. remove all circ pumps, booster pumps, and disconnect heater element. turn on hot tub and see if it trips. then do the same, re connecting the element, and pumps, one at a time. when it does trip, thats where the problem lies. bad pump or element

SOURCE: pool and spa heater will not turn on, low pressure on display

1) check the fuse on the transformer. You will get "low pressure" if the fuse is blown.
1a) remove front panel with flat head screw driver turning both big screws 1/4 turn clockwise
1b) look up under the 1 remaining front piece for 2 screws (one on each side). remove them and the 1 small panel slides down
1c) transform is directly in the center of this compartment
1d) red wire on transform has a black fuse case - twist open and check fuse (with an ohm meter it should read a dead short if it is working).
1e) if not working - replace with standard 250v 2a bus fuse.
2) it really is low pressure
2a) backwash pool or at least make sure pressure in filter take is not too high (high filter tank pressure == low water pressure in heater)
2b) if you have a bypass valve make sure it is not in bypass mode so most all pressure from the pump is going tothe heater
2c) right next to the transformer is the pressure switch. It has a small copper tube attached to the back and 2 wires in the front. Put an ohm meter across the two leads on this device. With the filter off it should be open, with the filter on it should be closed (short). If not either the copper tubing is clogged, the switch is faulty, or there is not enough water going through the heater. The amount of water that goes into the heater is adjustable and the water pressure switch is also adjustable. The owners manual explains how to adjust both but neither should need adjustment unless you have a special configuration (explained in the manual).

My new flo-master xp2 spa pump will not engage the low speed. The hi speed (jets) works fine but the low speed doesn't engage. I just hear a clicking and nothing comes on.

if you had ice in it and it was powererd up.. you may have burned out the start capacitor or even the start windings..why was it iced up while working on it..it should have been freewheeled by hand before startup..I just got a tub in here.. had to wait 6 days for it to thaw out..(sign of good insulation) we just ran it for the first time yesterday..got some seals to replace and some switches to repair..

My hot blows the fuse just as soon as I turn it on, I unhock the heater and it still blows the fuse. How long is the motor gauntee for Flo Msater XP2-551521

1 year.

If you disconnect the jet pump plug from the control box can you turn on the service and not blow it again? That would be the easiest way to confirm a motor failure is your problem.

I have pool with the spa.I try spa to work but jets they dont work.I have a profession a pool tech to check cant figure out what is the problem. He tought is the air in a line.can not fix.

Signal to the controller or power to the pump is not there. Check for power at pump for easiest troubleshooting. If pump is getting power its the pump is dead, if its not getting power controller needs trouble shooting.

Jacuzzi Laser II: Problem with the Heater/filter setting. The jets come on when it's on this setting. When I turn it to Filter setting it's fine..when I turn it off the jets come back on What gives?

The jets will run while in the filtration / heating mode. If the spa is in the middle of the filtration cycle, the jets will stay on until the cycle time runs out. So, if the spa jets are on during this time, they are on for the full duration, 2-6 hours every 12. You can cycle the jet button to high, but when you try to turn them off, they will just go back on low.
