Best Cell Phone Features

With the bevy of options and features now available in cellphones it's easy to find one perfect for you. Before you begin searching for your next cell phone, take the time to think about what you need your phone to do. Below, you'll learn the best cell phone features.
grayBarSmall.gif" alt="" height="3" border="0">
  1. Camera: Cell phone cameras can be quite handy when you happen upon a special moment without a regular digital camera on hand. Most camera phones don't take very high-resolution (usually 1.3 megapixel) pictures, but there are some that top out over 3 megapixels. Some cell phone cameras even have small flashes. If you want a camera phone, find out if it comes with the cable and software to connect to your computer, so you don't have to spend extra for a separate program.
  2. Video: Usually, camera phones that play video will also record video. Some non-camera cell phones also play video. Look to see if you can transfer movies from your phone to your computer.
  3. Web browsing: Many cell phones let you connect to the Internet. Most use Wireless Access Protocol (WAP), which allows the phone to connect to pages specifically designed for cell phones. There are many phones with full browsers, however, that allow you to view regular Web pages.
  4. Bluetooth: Bluetooth is a technology that allows you to transfer data wirelessly between devices. Wireless cell phone headsets use this technology, and it can also be used to transfer pictures, ringtones and other data between two cell phones or between cell phones and computers.
  5. Games: There are cell phones out there that have been designed with the gamer in mind, allowing you to download games that would compare to those found on a personal gaming system.
  6. Office software: Most cell phones feature some sort of a calendar and alarm. You can set a wake-up alarm or you can make it alert you for your next appointment. Other phones allow you to make notes for each appointment. Some let you create documents that can be transferred to your computer's word processor or spreadsheet.
  7. MP3 player: More and more cell phones are also MP3 players. Check to see if you need special headphones for listening (and if they're included), and pay attention to the phone's memory capacity.
  8. Memory expansion: Some phones, usually video or MP3 player phones, feature memory card slots, so you can save pictures, music or other files on removable flash memory.
  9. Voice dialing: If you absolutely have to use your cell phone while driving, you'll want one with voice dialing. The phone recognizes the contact you speak and places the call, allowing you to keep your eyes where they belong: on the road.

Tips for camera

Using the camera:
Your phone has a flash to help you to take pictures in different lighting environments. The flash is on by default, but you can turn it off or use the automatic setting. To set the desired mode when using the camera, select Options > Flash and Flash off, Flash on or Automatic.
Fast viewing with memory card To view your images and video clips quicker, use your memory card as the main memory for storing them.
In the camera application, select Options > Settings > Image / video storage > Memory card.
Capture and send You can send the picture immediately after you have taken it when you are previewing it. To display a picture immediately after you take it, select Options > Settings > Image preview time and the preview time. During the preview time, select Back to take another picture, or Send to send the picture as a multimedia message.
Print your images Your phone supports Nokia XpressPrint to print images that are in .jpg format. To print your pictures, connect your phone to a compatible printer using a data cable or send the image by Bluetooth to a printer supporting Bluetooth technology. Select the image you want to print from the Gallery, and when viewing the picture, select Options > Print.

Also have a blackberry phone.Problem I do not know how to set up my GPRS settings and all other settings like, downloading,Email, etc. The camera also wont take pictures when I try to. PLEASE HELP...

To be able to use WAP, Internet browsing, MMS, Email you need to subscribe for BlackBerry data plan for your phone. BlackBerry is not like other phone that can work with the above mentioned features only if the GPRS setting can be put in place. BlackBerry device work with a special APN called which need to be assigned by your carrier (done by provisioning) in your SIM card. Except that there is no other way of using BlackBerry for above mentioned features.....

. Group Communication If you find yourself working on a group project or needing the advice of a few friends as you do your history homework, try using the three-way calling feature. It's available on most cell phones.
You may not even be aware that this feature is available on your phone, so you may want to experiment a little. First call one friend and establish a clear connection. Then enter the number of a second friend on the keypad and press send. If your phone has the three-way feature, then the second call will go through and the first friend will be on hold. Simply press send again to re-connect with the first friend.
Cell Phone as Audio Tool Some cell phones come equipped with a voice recorder. This tool can be priceless if you tend to forget things. You can use the recorder to remember homework assignments, to memorize terms, to practice foreign language pronunciation, and dozens of other tasks. It's a great feature for auditory learners.
If your phone doesn't have the voice recording feature, you can accomplish many of the same tasks by sending yourself a voice message.
Pictures and Illustrations More and more phones come equipped with picture-sharing features. This is important because pictures can be used as illustrations in reports and presentations. If you're in the library or out and about and you see an image that would work for a project, simply capture the image on your phone.
The are several ways you may be able to save and transfer the picture. Depending on the cell phone, you may be able to use a memory card, Bluetooth technology, or a USB cable that connects your cell phone with your computer. You may have to do a little detective work to find the best method for your phone.
Podcasts Right now it's pretty expensive and cumbersome to access a podcast from most cell phones, since many cell phones require the middle step of downloading a podcast to a computer. But technology is barreling along pretty quickly. With the advent of cell phone/MP3 player combos, the prospect of widespread podcast sharing is growing ever more likely. Look for teachers/professors sending podcasts and students accessing them more and more.
Sending Money There may be times when you need to travel to conduct research or to visit prospective colleges. Parents may be interested to know that your cell phone can provide some security while you’re on the road.

Can't download pictures from cell to computer

Here's how you download the pictures if your cell phone provider has disabled USB Mass Storage Mode.

With Windows XP, connect the phone to your computer using a USB cable, then in the phone open the menu, go to Tools, USB Mode, and select "Print" - wait a while, then your computer should detect the phone and ask you if you want to use scanner and camera wizard. You may not be able to preview the pictures with the wizard, but you will be able to download them.

Have same problem - did not get a CD with my mobile L6 'phone

Install on your computer the software that came with your digital cameramag-glass_10x10.gif.
  • Step 2 Connect your camera to your computer using the USB cable that came with your camera. You must have a USB port to download pictures to your computer.
  • Step 3 Choose the folder where you want your pictures downloaded. The computer will choose the "My Pictures" folder by default unless you want them in a different folder.
  • Step 4 Preview the pictures. You can delete any you don't like or want. Make sure to delete them off your camera as well or the next time you download that picture will downloaded again.
  • Step 5 Select a picture and print. Some software will let you put borders and cute sayings on your pictures. Have fun with it.

    Unable to download Picture msg

My phone is a motorola razr that was orginally on tmobile and I unlocked it for cingular use. I cannot download messages either, it gives me the same message. If your phone is from one carrier and being used on another, you won't be able to access picture messages. It uses the internet feature to download the message and cannot access the internet on a different carrier.

If this is not the case I do not know.
