SOURCE: fryer pilot will light and

Could be thermostat is bad and/or high limit as well. I'd start with the thermostat, and if that doesn't fix it, move onto the high limit...I could get you a price, but I need a model/serial number both first...

Gas wall furnace pilot goes out when burner turns off.

When the main burner turns off, does it make a whoosh or pop? If so, this would be the issue causing the pilot to be disturbed. And have you tried to adjust the pilot/thermopile strength, if possible? A stronger pilot may help. Now if the main burner slowly goes out, and the pilot also slowly goes out, and also slow to ignite, and you've replaced about everything else, it may be the gas valve itself that has/is giving up. Gas is impure and causes a sticky residue. And if the main burner is "slow to act", this tells me the piston that's inside the valve is slowly opening or closing, and may be the reason the pilot is acting up. Make sure you check the outlet to your flue pipe also for obstructions. If the unit doesn't vent properly it can have more heat in the flue. That heat can have a downward rush when the burner goes out, kinda like forcing air through a clogged tube. And when you quit forcing the air, some of it comes back at you. Before condemning the valve try to check all else as you have done with the thermopile and such. Please work safe and I hope this helps.

I changed the thermo coupler and the pilot light does stay lit but the burners won't light

If you are referring to a gas fireplace:

  • Make sure the pilot knob is turned from "pilot" to "ON" or it will never run.
  • If the pilot knob is "ON", and the pilot is lit, but the burner won't light, it could be a bad Thermopile. The thermopile is the other safety mechanism in the pilot assembly that controls the burner.

Pilot light wont stay lighted

Hi there.
Try cleaning the thermopile (cylindrical piece of metal behind the pilot) wwith a non-metal scrubbing pad. thermopile needs the heat of pilot flame to keep the pilot flame lighted as well as burners during operation.
Kindly check also if the gas has sufficient pressure.
Regards.

Hello i have a J5 lincat fryer and the pilot stays alight but the burners won't connect (light) have replaced the thermostat and the thermo couple but still no joy any ideas on this not sure what to do...

Check if there is 500 to 750 millivolts across the thermopile wires; thermopile generates 500 to 750 millivolts if properly heated to energize pilot and main valve solenoids of the gas valve for pilot and main burner operation. If the voltage across the thermopile is good and all wiring connections are ok, I think you have to replace the gas valve.
Regards.

My fryer model SRTG LIGHT THE PILOT BUT WON'T LIGHT THE MAIN BURNER

check if the thermopile (cylindrical metal standing behind pilot assembly) receives enough heat from pilot flame. if it does, you need to replace the thermopile.

Pilot light keeps going out! Will not stay Lit.

Check if the the gas pressure is sufficient (as stated on unit's nameplate). Check if the hi limit device is good. Check also if the thermopile (cylindrical metal with two wires standing behind the pilot hood) is receiving enough heat from the pilot flame. The voltage generated by thermopile should be 500millivolts in order to open pilot and main valve. If there is 500millivolt on gas valve thermopile and the pilot flame does not stay lit, you have to replace the gas valve. If the thermopile is glowing red and the voltage generated does not reach 500 millivots, you have to replace the thermopile.

Fryer comes on gets to temperature, then after a varied amount of time depending on use will power down, and will not come back on to maintain temperature, or will occasionally come on, but not to desired ...

Hi there.
Thermopile must be free of soot or any form of dirt so that it coud absorb the right intensity of heat from the pilot flame for millivolt generation used in energizing the pilot and main valve electrical coils for pilot and burner operation. Pilot flame must be stable during fryer operation as well as the gas pressure being supplied to the unit.
All wiring connection must be tight, a very small amount of voltage generated by the thermopile or millivolts will not pass thru loosely connected wires.
Regards.

Keating fryer won't stay lit

You might want to see about getting your money back or swapping it for another. I'm guessing it is a natural gas model. If so check and make sure you have between 4 and 5 water columm gas pressure. If so I would start by checking the thermopile and make sure it's producing around 700 milivolts. If your not able to measure this or have the tools to do so, I would start by replacing the thermopile. (This is not a thermocouple.)If this does not fix the problem. You have a bad gas valve. Thermopile cost around $60.00. Gas valve runs around $30000You can go this web site for more info http://www.tmeinc.biz/xkeat.htm

Main burner too hot & 2nd burner pilot won't

Set t/stat to 250 degrees. If it does not shut off after about 5 minutes, replace t/stat.If shuts off, must be calibrated Pilot may be dirty, flame weak. If flame strong, replace thermopile(pilot generator). If weak, must remove and clean pilot orifice inside pilot.
