How can I fix an old lawnflite edger 2.5 briggs and stratton with no compression HELP

First question, is it worth it? Or is this a sentimental unit... If you don't care about spending money then get yourself a new piston and rings assy. Remove the exhaust and look at the cylinder walls though first, if they look smooth, then you can avoid getting a whole new cylinder as well. My opinion, I would just replace all, the cylinder , the piston and rings... The problem you have could be bad rings, scorn piston and cylinder. .. either way, costly if you're not repairing it yourself.

Blue smoke is burning oil. Caused from bad rings, bad valve seals and valve guides are worn out. Since you have power, I would suspect the valves. Head job is the only way to fix this. Just a note, this is not common on 10 year old Nissan. To do a quick check for the piston rings. Start the car. Take the oil fill cap off. If you feel oil shoot out a foot above the opening, the rings are shot. Also when rings go bad, you have oil blow out about every gasket and seal. If this is the case, replace the engine or rebuild it.

Honda gxv 160

How old is the mower? Is it OHV or flathead? Does it burn oil? Low compression in these small engines is usually caused by bad rings. Try putting one-half teaspoon of motor oil in the cylinder, crank the engine without the spark plug in, replace the spark plug and try to start the engine. If it starts and runs, then the rings need to be replaced. By putting oil in the cylinder, you re-seal the rings to the cylinder wall, this is only temporary. Deglaze the cylinder wall and replace the rings and you should be good to go.

I overhaul this S92 briggs engine a month a go and it is burning oil it was buring oil before the ring gap of the new rings measure a lot better than the ring gap of the old rings?

Deglazing the cylinder isn't required but helps the rings get their own good seal. Check or make sure you staggered the ring gaps on both the compression and oil scrapper rings and that one of the oil rings didn't fold over during installation and get between the piston and cylinder. If by burning oil you mean it's smoking a lot, are you sure it isn't the assembly grease or the oil that was already in the cylinder and muffler from the old rings. If all the parts are installed correctly, let it run a while to get up to operating temperature and see if the smoke clears up, if it's getting fresh oil from the crankcase you won't hurt it to run it long enough to get hot and burn all the old oil out of the muffler. If it continues to smoke, a light honing of the cylinder may be in order.

Burns engine oil

Depending on how bad it's burning oil, it can be results of the rings and valve seals going bad. Have you had any recent top end motor work. When rings are incorrectly installed (upside down, etc.) or the gaps are too wide or the cylinders weren't honed to match the material and/or finish of the rings, oil will get through. The same goes for the valve stem seals. If they are old and hard, they will allow oil to get by and into the combustion area. You can try to use an additive like CD-2 Engine Oil Stop Leak/ Heavy Duty Sealer

I have blue smoke coming out of the exhaust of my 1998 dodge caravan

Blue smoke is usually an indication of bad rings, which allows engine oil to be burned as you drive. The fix requires engine teardown, pulling off the heads, removing the oil pan, and removing the crankshaft, rods, and pistons. The cylinders may need to be bored, but at the least they will need cleaned up with a hone. The old rings taken off and new rings istalled. If the engine needed bored, then new pistons must be installed. Then, put it all back together.

Hope this helps you
