Try to connect the monitor on other source for signal -laptop or other known working computer.if it posible.
Try with other rgb cable.Moust of monitor go tu stand by or power saving mode when is not presence of signal from computer(h-sync )
If monitor works ok on other source,than problem is in your computer(vga card probably)

SOURCE: benq computer monitor shuts down after standby in energy saving..

There are 6 (reduced quality) capacitors in the BenQ Q9W5 which cause the screen over time to 'fail to sync' when turning on or resuming from standby.

They are;
4x 470uF 35v, and
2x 1000uF 16v.

I recommend the following replacements if you are in Australia (the ones I purchased from Jaycar only lasted 12 months);
(470uF) http://www.altronics.com.au/index.asp?area=item&id=R4865
(1000uF) http://www.altronics.com.au/index.asp?area=item&id=R5182

Does the black reading screen use less power than the sepia or green screens?

Slightly, but not much. Better still use power settings to put monitors/screens into standby and save even more power.

To save most power shut down the computer. This is often overlooked. However, if you not using the computer for a while this saves most power and the electricity bill you pay out.

Did anyone find out how I can get my monitor to stay on

Monitors shut down when they are not receiving video signals ... to save power. Even if the computer was taking to long to initialize the video card, the monitor would simply come back on ... so your question probably should be why isn't your video card powering up. Many reasons for that, but bad mainboard, bad video card, bad power supply are probably the most common ... not necessarily in that order.

Automatic shut off?

Usually you set this by going into the power saving settings in the screen saver settings.

You can set the monitor to shut down pretty much when you want it to from this settings screen.

Good Luck,

My monitor shuts down after one second.

Dell monitors automatically go into power-save mode after a preset amount of time when the computer is inactive. The Dell monitor will go completely black, instead of showing a screensaver. This doesn't mean that your Dell computermag-glass_10x10.gif has shut down. Instead, this allows your monitor to essentially turn off until it's needed again. You can change how long it is before the Dell monitor goes into power-save mode by changing your display settings.
  1. Step 1 Press any key on your keyboard or move your mouse. Either will turn off power-save mode. Alternately, you can press the power button on your Dell computer tower or laptop.
  2. Step 2 Press any key a second time if the monitor goes from power-save to stand-by mode. Stand-by mode allows the screensaver to appear.
  3. Step 3 Enter your user name and password into the login prompt if your computer requires a login. Press "Enter" to begin using your Dell computer.
  4. Step 4 Change the display settings on your Dell monitor to prevent your monitor from going into power-save mode prematurely. Right-click anywhere on your desktop and choose "Properties." Click the "Screensaver" tab and press "Power." Beside "Turn off Monitor," choose a time amount from the drop-down list and press "Apply."

Lg 22 " monitor

This is called Burn In or LCD residue. Normal wear on monitors. To save this from happening quicker, when the monitor is not being used, just press the monitor power button and shut the screen down instead of using the screen saver. You can still leave the computer running, when your ready to use it again just turn on the power button to the monitor.
