Question about SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro SDCZ62048A10 Hard Drive

Sandisk recognized, but no access to data

When I plug the Cruzer in, my PC recognized it as a removable disk drive. But the signon screen does not pop and if I try to click on it, it says to insert a disk into the drive. Is it dead? Do these things fail regularly?

Since I posted this, I tried it in another PC and it worked. I suspect the thing that changed that made it malfunction was the installation of SQL Server on my machine for BizTalk development. I think that installation somehow disabled the use of these zip drives. I tried an older one I used to use, and it wouldn't work either, same symptoms. The good news is my data is OK. But I'm hosed on using it at work now. Thanks for looking into this.

Possibilities:
1) One of your USB devices have faulted, or is causing a resource conflict (or similar)
-- Remove all USB devices, and reboot.
2) Your USB chip/ports have been damaged.
-- Find a spare HardDisk or bacjup your data and re-install Windows and see how that goes.
3) Your Power Supply Unit (PSU) isnt supplying enough power to your PC (usually caused by a Video card upgrade). Try a more powerful PSU ... 400watts should do the trick
4) Bad memory (RAM) can cause wierd problems. run memtest for an hour to make sure your memory is ok

5)Usb is infected with viurs and u just need to write it with "BINARY LANGUANGE"

It seems that many people are still getting the 'USB Device not Recognized' problem from time to time. Unfortunately there is no easy fix.
Firstly, it's recommended that you make sure every one of your motherboard drivers are completely up-to-date, but you probably already knew that.
In XP, after a USB port isn't used for a long while the USB driver built into the OS sets the OHCI controller to suspend. When you plug a device back in, it can sometimes fail to 'wake up' properly. This problem was supposedly fixed in SP1 but there is a related registry hack that may still be able to help.
Run regedt32.exe and navigate to;
HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Usb
Create the Usb key if it doesn't already exist. Under this key, create a new DWORD value called DisableSelectiveSuspend and give it a value of 1. Then restart the PC.
A long shot perhaps, but I recall having similar problems with a USB hub built into my Microsoft keyboard and adding this key seemed to solve it. It wouldn't hurt in trying .
Alternatively, removing all entries relating to USB in Device Manager and all associated USB drivers will force XP into refreshing the USB driver stack.
Begin by unplugging all USB devices, then use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall any USB driver software. Next, boot up into safe mode and go to Device Manager. Once in device manager make sure 'Show hidden devices' is checked under the View menu. Uninstall all device entries in this order;
1. USB peripheral devices (printers etc.)
2. HID and/or Composite USB (Human Interface Devices) You're using PS/2 input devices so you may not have this entry.
3. USB Root Hub(s)
4. USB Host Controller(s) (Universal or Enhanced Host Controllers)
Then boot back into Windows (not safe mode) and it should populate the Root Hubs & Host controllers again. Proceed to plug your USB devices back in, starting with your powered hub. Be aware that most USB printers and scanners need to have their drivers installed first before you plug them in.
Hopefully some of this may be of help, let us know how you get on.

I accendentally knocked out my scandisk and it won't work

Good day sir/maam, you must not remove the sandisk especially if its reading the disk, data can get corrupted. In doing so may destroy even your sandisk cruzer. Try the unit in other PC. do it several times. if still cant be recognize, bring it to your dealer, they have in house tech that may save your disk. if not you can demand for a new one if its under warrantee. As for your file, sad to say this you may need to back up more often, especially important ones. hope this helps

Sandisk Cruzer 1GB drive suddenly not working

DO NOT panic! Try this: restart your computer and plug your USB in again(this helps to clean the buffer), see if you drive can be recognized.

If you still can't access the data inside, try this data recovery program Wondershare Data Recovery. Get the program here,

Mac Data Recovery (Mac OS version)
Windows Data Recovery (Windows Version)

Take care - Before those items are recovered, stop saving more files to the USB in case the file data are overwritten!

1gb cruzer micro

This is caused by 1 of 2 problems:
  1. Your flash drive is corrupted in some way, forcing the computer to reformat it before you can use it.
  2. The flash drive was formatted for a specific device (like a piano) and was made only for that device.
  3. Your PC incorrectly recognized it
  4. You do not have the correct drivers installed.
If you have problem #4, you can go onto google and search "1 gb cruzer micro drivers".
If you have problem #3, try plugging your flash drive into a different USB port.
If you have problem #2 or #1 (Which it most likely is), then you should try or buy a software application such as PC Inspector, to recover those files. Then you may reformat the flash drive.

However, I found that sometimes, just restarting the computer, and inserting and re-inserting the flash drive sometimes does work. But that's not guaranteed.

May be the USB drive is damged. Try connecting it to another machine. If it works then plug it in to the same port as you have installed it.
