Everstar hdwc35 We were outof the house for 2 days and left the door ajar to our Everstar HDWC35 wine cooler. It worked fine before but now it won't cool. I have unplugged it from power. Will leaving it unplugged for a time serve any purpose? What parts may hve been damaged? Thanks

SOURCE: I have an everstar hdwc35,

It is a faulty thermostat not the control board An open thermostat defaults to a high value, so it does not shut off. If it was a bad compressor, or low in freon, it would not "get ice cold". If it is low on freon, the low pressure switch would not let it start up.

The defrost timer either runs normally (cycles on and off cold) or is in defrost mode (heater elements turn on to temporarily heat the freezer in order to remove frost). Anyway, It is not the defrost timer if it "gets icy cold".

How do I know whether a thermoelectric cooling system is better for me than a compressor?

This depends on several factors: how much wine you keep on hand, where you will be putting the cooler (cool/warm room in the house) and if you are buying a freestanding cooler/built-in. If you never have more than two cases, plan on keeping the cooler somewhere it won't get too warm and you want a freestanding cooler, you should look into purchasing a thermoelectric cooling system.

Model # HDWC35 Wine Cooler is not cooling at all.

Thermostat failure in those is very common. One quick test is to bypass the thermostat. And if it runs, you need to replace it.

Ice build-up on GE ZDW24A wine cooler cooling coil

Probably the thermostat is bad , you can bypass it by putting together the two wires from the thermostat and if the unit starts working ,replace the thermostat ;only do this if you havesome knowledge of electrical work and be very carefull.
