It's one of two things; more than likely the cartridge is jammed, meaning it tried to return a cd in a slot where there already was a cd stored and has jammed half way. The way to confirm this is to open the slider door to the cartridge, use a good flashlight, and try to see if a CD is "half in- half out" of the transport. Don't force the CD into the cartridge or transport. What you have to do is pull the unit out of the car, take out the screws on the sides and top if any and take the top off the player. Now you can see exactly whats wrong. if there is not a CD in the transport, gently push the cd into the player, freeing it from the cartridge. Now plug the unit back in with the top off and watch the mechanics, it will automatically reset itself. once this is done, eject the cartridge and carefully look at it for bends or warps, if you find any, replace the cartridge before you use it again. They just get warped over time and vehicle heat and is a very common problem. Hope this helps
