Pressure plate and throw out bearing bad. Get a matching connector for the alternator and splice it in. The engine is going to need to be removed. I would also check the input shaft to the transmission. Tractors a god at breaking shafts.

Found wire connector had taped on end. Believe it goes to headlights. bought tractor used so finding many things not right. Not sure where the pressure plate and throw out bearing are located, but will attempt to locate. Although mechanically inclined, as a gal, may need to take this one to the shop. Thanks for responding.

Actual issue was drive pulley. Removed seat and cover. Moved gas tank. Removed retaining clip, and fan. Depress parking brake to relieve belt tension. Drive pulley lifted right off. Splines inside pulley were severely worn. Replaced, reassembled, works fine.

SOURCE: Parking Brake Lever (Orange Plastic Lever on left side) is stuck

The parking break is associated with your foot break. Depress the foot break ALL THE WAY down, then you will find that your parking break can be pulled all the way up.

You must be in the seat to run the mower ... safety interlocks ... operator presence control is what it is called.

My mtd gold will not move it is a hydro and wont tram eather way

Robert, check the hydro. release lever at rear of tractor, if you can push tractor the lever is in release mode and has to be switched to engage mode. If this is not the problem it could be numerous things, broken/stretched belt, fuse for clutch blown, faulty clutch, park brake stuck on, broken shear key in transaxle or damaged, gear linkage loose, if any sign of hyd. oil leak check level/fill and bleed as per your manual, etc. You may want a good small engine tech. to have a look, diagnose and estimate repair.
Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Husqvarna YTH2348 when clutch pedal is released, something grinds below and makes a lot of noise, but tractor does move.

Not sure what is going on here, these machines do not have a clutch as such, it will be a idler pulley that is pulled onto the back of the belt to tention it thus taking the drive to the hydro unit, so it may be a simple idler pulley replacment, or slave pulley replacement, with the hydro in neutral have somebody sit in the seat and work the pedal whilst you look under neath and watch what is happening.

Gt 245 lawn tractor won't go forward or backward

Check the drive belts first. and make sure the hydro release lever is in the correct position. If it is not- you can push the lawn tractor and have the rear wheels turn. It sometimes doubles as a "Forward" "Neutral" "Reverse" lever on other brands of lawn tractor.

The belts should be in their guides and pulley grooves- check to make sure it does not have a hidden break by having the engine off, and pulling on the belt.

Lastly, check to make sure the hydro itself is not out of oil or low on oil. It uses low viscosity "HyGard" oil. Capacity if you drain the old oil out and refill is 4.6 quarts. Look for a leak if the level is low.

If it still does not move, make sure the levers are set so you are in forward motion positions, and push- if the rear wheels move there is a problem in the hydro unit.

you should hear a click from the solenoid when you apply the brakes. If your brake lights don't work, your shift lock release won't either. There is a bypass method for emergencies in your owner manual. Check fuse for brake lights. And switch on brake pedal

Mower will not free wheel.brakes off and hydros released

You have to do one more thing to move this tractor without the motor running.
It takes two people to move the Revolution. One needs to sit on the seat and hold the forward pedal down. It will then freewheel.
So, brake off, both hydro release levers pulled (do NOT pull hard or you will break the springs) and the forward (right hand side, big pedal) pedal pushed down.
Any other question? I know this unit pretty well.

Have you checked the fluid level in the hydro trans, there is a drive belt from the engine to the hydro trans check and make sure that this is not worn or loose. Make sure that when you check the tension of this belt that you do not have the engine running or the parking brake set, since tension will be released from the belt when parking brake is applied. good Luck

In the back of the mower...probably under the seat, there should be a lever to release the transmission, or it is on the back plate. As far as the noise when trying to move drive the mower, the brake in the back, next to the transmission is jammed, use a 1/2 inch wrench to loosen it maybe 1/4 turn and this should unlock the brakes
