Now when start and release foot lever, hear clanging / grinding noise and still won't move. Also found disconnected end at front of tractor coming from wire harness by battery. Does not fit headlight plug (also disconnected). Help please

SOURCE: JD mower-only one coil firing

I just switched the coils around. The other cylinder went dead, so I knew I had a bad coil. Replaced the coil and mower runs great.

SOURCE: JD 3320 tractor with error code 57

From what I can find, that is a 'timeout' error indicating the expected signals from the hydrostatic transmission are not being received. That would suggest that some of the wiring is still not repaired. Could it be the nice doggie pulled out a connector partially and you didn't notice? Make sure all connectors are firmly seated.
Some have seen this error code occur for the simple reason that the battery voltage was borderline low -- those computers are sensitive. So before you take it to the dealer, put the battery on a charger overnight to see if that resolves it.
Hope this helps. If so, please rate my solutions, thanks and good luck!

SOURCE: i got a jd 318 the battery light is coming on and

Locate the plug on the right side of the engine that comes out from under the engine cover and also the regulator that bolts to the engine top cover on the top right side, held in with a bolt that take 10 mm wrench. The problem is usually burnt wire end in the plug or the regulator it's self has to be repaired or replaced.

SOURCE: jd 318 tractor won't start

yes it matters.Take note of which color was on which tab.If you connect new solenoid, like how the old solenoid wires were connected. Then only it will work.Otherwise it will not work.--- Locate the positive wire that connects the solenoid with the starter. It will be virtually the only wire that runs from the solenoid to the starter post. One wire goes to battery the negative wire and other goes to ignition switch. ----------------

The red wire from the circuit breaker goes to terminal "B" of the ignition switch. On your tractor there should also be a light green wire in this terminal. Terminal "S1" should have the single purple wire that goes to the coil of the solenoid, Terminal "S2" should get the purple wire and the purple/black wire. ------------
This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Blowing fuses

try unplugging the pto, starting the mower and then engaging the blades. If it still blows a fuse the problem lies in the mowers wiring. If not the problem is the pto. Hope this helps
