What is white balance

White balance is the camera looking at the whitest white and the blackest black and aligns all the other colors between the two digitally. when you adjust the white balance you create end points for how light the lightest or darkest point in your photo can be collected on your camera.

How was the color order for martial arts belts determined?

The color order was determined years ago when the belts were individually dyed from one level to the next, rather than replacing an old belt for a new one. Since the belts were dyed, the colors went from lightest to darkest, making the process easier.

I have a problem with the colour prints...there are different kind of lines all over the page..how can i clean the laser heads?is there any automatically way?

Hi,
Dots, Lines and smudges on the printouts are due to deteriorating cartridges and cleaning the green drum of the cartridge may help temporarily. Take out the cartridge and gently clean the roller/ green drum with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth wiping off the toner dots marks/ lines. (corresponding to the location where you are having a green line on the paper)
Also, make sure that the visible inside of the printer is clean and there is no spilled toner inside, which sometimes results in dots.
Moreover, streaks (thicker lines) and dots etc indicate faulty PCR Roller which is located behind the green drum inside the cartridge. Replace the Cartridge or get the PCR Roller changed by a professional.
Try cleaning the toners and see if it makes any difference. You would also have an idea about the toner drum/ parts quality etc and check if they need to be replaced. Furthermore, issues with Laser Unit like dust/ toner dust on the lenses and mirrors inside the printer usually result in faded or discolored prints. For instance, faded text/ picture at certain areas or any color missing when you print.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

I forgot to write down the color connections. my options are L 1 2 3 my wire colors are, blacr, purple, yellow, blue. which goes where?

One line on the fan goes to the house common and should be white. this one is separate from the new switch. The other 3 lines on the fan are the 3 speeds. "L" is for the hot line coming into the fan and should be BLACK or RED. It should also be in the same box connector as the white above.
1,2 and 3 are the 3 fan speeds and tie to the 3 leads on the fan.
Try 1=purple 2= blue 3=yellow
You may need to move them after testing but darkest to lightest is usually the 1,2,3 order. Please let me know how much this has helped. Thank you!

Horizontal lines

Depends on whether the "lines" are colored or just blank areas missing in the print . If it is blank areas , then most likely the laser scanner is dirty and the glass needs to be cleaned . If it is colored lines , then you most likely have a defective drum .

Taking outdoor pics of people when its sunny.

As cameras become more and more automatic, it is harder for thier owners to be 'photographers'. I was trained as a photographer many many years ago on large format, film cameras with no meters and digital was something for the science fiction books. I rarely put any of my digital SLRs in one of the automatic mode.
With your SD600, you have very little control that you can use to overcome this issue. but you DO have some...

First trick is to manually turn your flash on, even in bright sun when shooting outdoors, (this will do two things, turn on the flash which will provide some fill light on the faces of your subjects to reduce the range between the darkest and lightest areas on your people subjects; and it will change the length of time that the shutter stays open to compensate for the slowness of the flash. So you are puttting more light on thier faces and allowing light to pass thru the lens for a longer duration.)

Second, wear a white shirt/blouse. your subjects are in bright sunlight, but the faces are dark - tells me the sun is behind them and in front of you. Thus a white shirt will reflect light and you become a reflector of sorts (this is a short range trick only) Be mindful of the color of your shirts here, color also reflects and may cause their skin tones to become slightly 'off'.

Also try to get your subjects to step into a shady area so that there is not such a high range difference between the brightly lit areas and shadows on them, some cameras, yours included can only do so much -

Look at it this way, I can ask you to someone to swallow a grape in one bite, maybe something the size of a lemon is possible, but you cannot take an entire potatoe into your mouth at one time. In the same way, your camera can only take in a given 'range' of values (intensity) from the darkest to lightest before you exceed it's ability. anything brighter than a given level is simply blown out and anything darker than a given value simply records as black or dark with little or no detail.

This is why a lower pixel count SLR takes better pictures than a high pixel compact camera. Most folks only read the pixel count and go 'ooh ah' - because that is how cameras are marketed. (lots of points recording lower quality range vs fewer points recording higher quality range)

Find ways to stay within the range that your camera can accept. add light to the low end as in tips one and two or reduce the high end, as in tip 3)

Let me know how it works out...
