Hotpoint dishwasher model bfi620 heavy soil light flashing

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help? I can select the program on my dishwasher ok, however when closing the machine door the machine is beeping and jumping to the heavy soil program with that light flashing. The machine continues to "hum" as if going to start but nothing further? Any suggestions as to what to look for would be most appreciated as nothing in the manual to suggest what this error is.

SOURCE: Fault with Hotpoint BCI45 Dishwasher

This a generic problem with hotpoint dishwashers..
Water is present in the flood catching tray at the bottom which usually indicates that there is a leak somewhere. More often than not this is just a pipe with a poor fitting and simply tightening the clip is enough to stop the leak. Our machine had a very slow leak from one pipe (not enough to trigger the alarm) which was fixed in this way. The leak is detected by a small float switch located in the flood catch tray.

Undo 4 screws on the metal plate under the dishwasher 3 at the front 1 at the back, this reveals The pump check the seals are in place on the waste pump.

food stuck in drain pump remove and clean out or scoop out - soak up all water then fill with 3 or 4 hot litres of water . cancel programme , start new one ( first thing unit does is switch to drain cycle ).
Then rock machine back and forth - this sometimes frees jammed debris thus pumping out of machine.
This works for me i have done it several times and it works

SOURCE: hotpoint dishwasher bf1620 - 1st

I have had this problem twice now and the problem is water in the drip tray. The guys at Hotpoint eventually told me what the light meant as he wanted me to have an engineer and the manual does not say.!!

So if your up to it uplug from the mains and turn water off to the unit, pull the dishwasher out and lay it on its side (first putting down towels as the water will spill out depending where it was in the cycle when it stopped).

At the bottom of the dishwasher along both long sides there are 6 screws ( 3 each side) remove these easy peezy. Gently remove the tray/plate as it has connections there. You will probably notice the water on the tray or in the gubbins (nice word). Get a dry towel and dry what you can not forgetting the tray itself. Then and this is the important bit, use a hairdryer on all the gubbins and the metal insides DONT FORGET TO DO THE TRAY ITSELF. Take at least 20 mins to do this getting everything completly dry.
Then put together again, stand it up gently and try it.

You may or may not notice the water in the drip tray or on the gubbins, it does not take much for it to stop working.

This has worked twice for me. Also with the help of the internet and costing me £5 I was able to remove broken glass from the drain pump. I have saved myself a fortune.

This is from a woman who knows NOTHING about this sort of thing so if I can fix it anyone can.

Power to the girls !!!!

Matsui slimline dishwasher don't know what symbols mean one is a pot with a tray underneath. One is just a pot and the other is a shower with a tray type line at an angle

OK . . .

Pot with tray underneath is "heavy soil" - this will be a long wash
Pot only is "medium soil" - this will be a standard wash
Shower with tray / line is "light soil" this will be a quick wash / rinse

Please rate this solution if you find this helpful. Thanks.

The program light goes off and the BF162 doesn't start...

When you keep the button pressed for a few seconds the lights go off, this resets the dishwasher. Then press the p button again to the program you want 1st light is heavy soil 2nd light is normal soil, 3rd light is eco wash, 4th light is rinse. At the end of the cycle the program light you have selected will flash.

This is a bad control board that if replaced will only repeat in a short time .My advice is to contact the manufacturer and complain, you have the right as a consumer to do so.
